ROLE SUMMARY
Role positioning and objectives
This role is responsible for leading the demand forecasting process across multiple categories in Canada, delivering accurate, data-driven projections that inform marketing, commercial, supply chain, and financial planning. It drives continuous improvement in forecast accuracy and bias reduction through advanced analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and the integration of market intelligence. The role also supports the S&OP process by clearly articulating targets and identifying key sensitivities.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
Lead the monthly demand planning cycle, ensuring timely, accurate forecasts and alignment with business targets.
Facilitate demand consensus meetings as part of the S&OP process, ensuring clarity on assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
Be an effective business partner to multiple cross-functional senior stakeholders (specifically within Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain).
Analyze historical sales, market trends, pricing activities, and new product launches to refine forecast models.
Monitor and report forecast accuracy (DFA, Bias) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with commercial and marketing teams to integrate qualitative insights into statistical forecasts.
Ensure governance and adherence to forecasting standards, tools, and best practices.
Coach and develop junior planners, fostering analytical capability and business acumen.
Partner with IT and analytics teams to enhance forecasting tools, automation, communication and data quality.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required
Strong analytical and statistical modelling skills; proficiency in Excel, and forecasting tools (SAP, APO).
Working knowledge of Kinaxis is a strong asset.
Ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders around forecast assumptions and decisions.
Effective communication skills: including negotiation, influencing and senior stakeholders’ management.
Strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to manage complexity.
Team leadership: coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Experience Required
5-to-10-year experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analytics within Tobacco industry.
Proven experience managing multicategory portfolios and working in cross-functional environments.
Exposure to statistical analysis, forecasting, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and competitor analysis.
Exposure to S&OP/IBP processes and forecasting governance.
Experience with Canadian retail and distribution networks is an asset.
Ability to operate in rapidly evolving environment with quick turn around and stretched timeline.
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
Training in statistical forecasting or data science is a plus.
Currently legally authorized to work in Canada.
Bilingual (French and English) - Knowledge of English is required because the role deals with customers and suppliers elsewhere in Canada and around the world.
Spanish is an asset.
