Top 5 Universities to study Psychology


University of Cambridge

Cambridge is definitely the place you want to go to study Psychology, battling with Oxford for the top spot on every UK league table. 

Founded in 1209, the University takes great pride in its BA Psychological and Behaviour Science degree. As stated on their website, the course gives you the opportunity to study “cognitive, social, developmental and biological psychology within the broader context of the behavioural sciences.”
Most conditional offers require A*AA at A-Level (or equivalent), but the college has the discretion to make non-standard offers where appropriate.
During the 3-year degree, teaching is provided through lectures, classes or seminars, and supervisions, with lab hours when necessary. The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society, the first step to becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

Second, but not any less prestigious, comes the University of Oxford. Oxford offers a wider range of choices to pursue your career in psychology. In fact, it can be studied on its own as a BA in Experimental Psychology, or along with philosophy and linguistics as part of the BA in Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics. Just like Cambridge, Oxford requires a minimum of A*AA at A levels or equivalent. Oxford prides its degree on the prospect of a substantial amount of practical work and experimentation, rather than just lectures. In fact, even though the degree is classified as a Bachelor of Arts, the course is taught as a scientific discipline. The course is accredited as conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society, given that a minimum of a 2:2 is achieved throughout the three years of the course.

 Applicants are required to sit Admissions Tests, usually held in October.
 Applicants will also need to attend an interview.

Not only Bath is one of the prettiest cities in the UK, but the University of Bath is also a top-class university and its Psychology degree is one of the best in the country. One of the few degree programs that offer a professional placement opportunity, BSc Psychology at Bath focuses on areas specified by the British Psychology Society and teaches a broad range of research methods. The first two years, the degree revolves around practical work and lectures, to prepare students to conduct their own research project in the final year of the course.

Located in the heart of London, UCL is one of the world’s best universities and it offers one of the very best BSc in Psychology in the country. The first two years of the programme involve a general introduction to psychology, while the final year gives students the opportunity to specialise according to their main interests and aim, in order to make informed and rational decisions about their future career.
Learning involves both lectures and laboratory classes, with a weekly tutorial group for which students are required to produce essays and prepare discussion topics. 
Applicants have required a minimum of A*AA-AAA at A-Level, to include at least one from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology. The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society.

If the Scottish accent doesn’t bother you, the University of Glasgow may be the right place to pursue your studies in psychology. 

Rated second in the UK for excellence by the Guardian University Guide, the Psychology department at Glasgow offers a wide range of degrees: from BSc Psychology to Psychology and Neuroscience, but also a combination of psychology with one between Computing Science, Mathematics, Physiology or Statistics. 
Students have the possibility to study in a university abroad during their third year of study if they choose to progress to an Honours 4-years degree.
Standard offers require a minimum of AAB at A-Level, including two science subjects.
