As an MRI Technologist you are asked to operate MRI scanners and to ensure quality images for an accurate diagnosis. You will work and interact directly with patients as you ensure they are safely screened, comfortable and calm. You will utilize your medical knowledge by interviewing patients, explaining the procedure, placing IV’s when necessary and positioning the patient in the scanner. You will operate the scanner to ensure clear diagnostic images, recognizing abnormalities and irregularities and understand the difference between a quality image and one that needs repeating. &nbsp;JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:MRI<ul><li>The MRI Technologist prepares patients for exams ensuring their safety while protecting the rights of each patient served. They treat each patient with dignity and care and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.</li><li>Performs MRI exams in accordance with establishes protocols ensuring diagnostic quality.</li><li>Interacts collaboratively with all departments and units to coordinate patient care.</li><li>Recognize adverse reactions and contraindications and act appropriately.</li><li>Follow established hospital infection control and safety procedures and use AIDET communication framework</li></ul>Patient care and safety<ul><li>Follow all proper policies, procedures and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.</li><li>Under the direction of the MRI Supervisor and MRI Leads, perform a variety of MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.</li><li>Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam at all times, addressing patient concerns in a way that is informative and reassuring.</li><li>Maintains and protects all safety Zones within the MRI suite to ensure staff and patient safety.</li></ul>Administrative<ul><li>Captures images and transfers to PACS systems and to physician workstations.</li><li>Document procedures properly in EPIC, verifying proper demographics and patient histories.</li><li>Participates in documentation of all quality control and safety logs.</li><li>Maintains all necessary CEU’s and licensures</li><li>Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of all work areas and equipment</li></ul>JOB REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>BLS/CPR certified</li><li>Current ARRT certification and registration in MRI</li><li>Fluency in multiple-vendor software is a plus.</li><li>Knowledgeable about the risks of MRI and the ability to effectively communicate those risks.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and excellent technical skills.</li><li>One to four years of work experience preferred</li></ul>JOB BENEFITS:<ul><li>Competitive pay</li><li>Highly subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance options</li><li>403(b) retirement plan</li><li>Tuition reimbursement and generous employee discounts</li><li>Supportive work environment with a focus on training, professional development, and growth</li></ul>ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:The MRI department at Boston Medical Center is a full service, academic medical imaging department for both adult and pediatric patients.
