Introduction to the Job

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for executing tax compliance, statutory reporting, and financial reporting activities for ASML entities in Korea, in accordance with Korean tax regulations, Local GAAP, and US GAAP. This role covers a broad range of tax areas, including Corporate Income Tax (CIT), VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), Local Income Tax, and other local and international tax compliance matters.

We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience in Korean taxation, particularly Corporate Income Tax and VAT, together with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

You will also work closely with local and global stakeholders and support continuous process improvement, including the transition to our future SAP HANA ERP system.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Corporate Income Tax (CIT)

   • Act as the primary point of contact for information required for Corporate Income Tax return preparation.
   • Review CIT filings from a financial input perspective.
   • Monitor tax compliance obligations and ensure timely preparation of tax filings.
   • Support tax adjustments by preparing and reviewing data related to: Prepaid taxes, Foreign exchange translation gains/losses, Entertainment expenses, Donations, Foreign tax payments
   • Perform Sales-to-VAT reconciliation for system and intercompany revenue.
   • Support tax reviews and reconciliation related to revenue recognition.

2. VAT Management

   • Lead VAT return processes and support related KPI achievement.
   • Perform monthly VAT closing activities, including AICO.
   • Reconcile VAT accounts and clear open items.
   • Prepare quarterly VAT forecasts and analysis for tax authorities and the Netherlands Tax Team.

3. Withholding Tax (WHT)

   • Manage withholding tax compliance for software royalties.
   • Prepare and manage applications for reduced withholding tax rates.
   • Manage withholding tax compliance related to intercompany loan interest.

4. Local Taxes

   • Prepare and file local tax allocation statements.
   • Review and manage payments related to property tax, real estate tax, factory registration tax, and business place tax.

5. Statutory Audit Support

   • Support statutory audit procedures, including inventory cycle counts and follow-up activities.
   • Perform purchase ledger reviews and purchase sample testing.
   • Prepare inventory-related disclosures, supporting data, reconciliations, and cost analysis.
   • Support Journal Entry Testing (JET)

6. Financial Reporting & Closing

   • Monitor compliance with corporate accounting policies and local regulations.
   • Drive and coordinate period-end closing activities.
   • Collaborate with ASML Corporate Finance, Tax Accounting, and Tax Compliance teams in the Netherlands for periodic group reporting and consolidation.

7. Other Responsibilities

   • Collect Country-by-Country Reporting (CBCR) related-party information.
   • Manage corporate digital certificates.
   • Respond to internal data requests and statistical surveys.
   • Support the transition to SAP HANA, including issue follow-up and related process improvements.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

• 10~12 years of experience in accounting, tax, or finance, preferably in an international environment.

• Strong knowledge of Korean tax compliance and financial accounting, particularly Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and VAT, with experience in statutory audits and tax filings. (AICPA can be a plus; but not mandatory)

• Experience with SAP and/or relevant tax accounting rules preferred
