Senior Frontend Engineer | 6 month FTC | Shared Tech

Craft: Technology & Development

Job Description: At King, we bring moments of magic to hundreds of millions of players every day, and we’re just getting started.

We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Game Economy area on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You’ll help evolve the internal tools our teams use to build, configure, operate, and experiment with the economies behind our games.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex product and technical challenges, collaborating across disciplines and creating intuitive tools for a wide range of users.

Your role within our Kingdom

The Game Economy area builds and operates complex, high-scale systems that support the economies and monetisation experiences within our games. We work closely with game teams, product managers, designers, data specialists and other engineering teams across King.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will take ownership of meaningful improvements to our web-based tools and help the team deliver reliable, maintainable solutions within the six-month engagement.

You will:

• Design, build and improve intuitive web applications used by game development and business teams.

• Work with engineering managers, product managers, UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and users to understand needs and turn them into effective technical solutions.

• Contribute to frontend architecture and make pragmatic decisions that balance delivery speed with maintainability.

• Build reusable, accessible, and well-tested components and user experiences.

• Integrate frontend applications with APIs and complex data-driven systems.

• Improve application performance, reliability, observability and developer experience.

• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, sharing knowledge and raising engineering standards across the team.

• Identify risks, dependencies and opportunities early, communicating them clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Support the successful delivery and handover of the work completed during the contract.

Skills to create thrills

We’re looking for someone with:

• Significant professional experience building modern web applications with JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and modern JavaScript, including ES6+ features and browser APIs.

• Experience developing complex web applications with React and the wider React ecosystem.

• A strong understanding of frontend architecture, component design and state management.

• Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful or similar APIs.

• A quality-focused approach, including unit, integration and end-to-end testing.

• A good understanding of usability, responsive design, accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.

• Awareness of frontend performance, security and operational reliability.

• Experience with modern build, package-management and delivery tooling.

• The ability to write clear, maintainable code and make thoughtful technical trade-offs.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Confidence working directly with users and translating complex requirements into straightforward experiences.

• A collaborative approach and the ability to discuss ideas, give constructive feedback and support shared decisions.

• Strong written and spoken English.

Tasty bonus skills

It would be an advantage if you have experience with:

• Ant Design or similar React component libraries.

• CSS Modules, Sass or other scalable approaches to styling.

• Tools such as Vite, Webpack, npm, or equivalent frontend tooling.

• Continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.

• Data-intensive applications, experimentation platforms or internal business tools.

• Cloud-based or distributed systems.

• Game development, live services or digital-economy products.

• Playing and enjoying any of our games.

You don’t need to meet every requirement to apply. If the role interests you and your experience is relevant, we’d be happy to hear from you.
