Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. We bring that vision to life through our values and culture. Learn more about Target here.

Target UX is a group of design, content, research and accessibility practitioners and experts, with a passion for improving and innovating our digital experiences for Target’s guests, team members and partners. Here, we pride ourselves on designing tangible, inspiring and impactful solutions that serve all aspects of our business – and being a part of the team means you will play a critical role for Target’s digital experience by increasing ease, simplicity, value and delight for every touchpoint.

About the role:

As a Lead Product Designer on our guest facing Inspire & Motivate team, you will shape how guests discover, get inspired and shop across Target's web, mobile web and native apps. Our team owns discovery experiences like the Homepage and Category pages, partnering closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Product and Engineering.

This role is integral to moving how we present content from static pages toward a dynamic, adaptive model. You'll set the vision and strategy for content presentation as Homepage, Category and beyond evolve, unifying efforts to one strategy that leads us into our next chapter.

As AI reshapes what we build and how we build it, you will design experiences where content is assembled and personalized in real time, model how designers use AI to explore and prototype and establish the governance, principles and guardrails that keep it all on brand, trustworthy, and guest centered.

As a Lead on Target UX, you will drive the product development process, ensuring designs align with guest needs, business objectives and technical feasibility.

Responsibilities:

• Set the vision and strategy for the future of content presentation across Homepage, Category and beyond, influencing investment, partnerships, and the balance of new vs. iteration.

• Design dynamic, adaptive experiences where content is assembled, sequenced and personalized in real time based on guest context and business goals.

• Establish governance, design principles and guardrails for dynamic and AI driven content, so experiences stay on brand, accessible, trustworthy and consistent at scale.

• Use your influence to identify and pursue user centric outcomes within and across products.

• Effectively facilitate multiple cross functional working teams and collaborate across multiple design and product teams.

• Integrate AI into the design practice, using AI tools to accelerate exploration, prototyping and content variation. Help shape how the broader team adopts AI responsibly.

• Create design deliverables that fit each phase of the process, such as journey maps, system models, wireframes, user flows, UI design and prototypes.

• Guide design process and mentor junior designers.

• Investigate using both qualitative and quantitative research methods and use experimentation and performance data to inform and evolve the system.

• Hold design work to a high standard of craft, including accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design and visual design.

• Advance a culture of human centered practice within UX, product and engineering teams.

• Build a network of relationships to enable your vision in service of our guest experience and Target as a whole.

About you:

• 7+ years experience as a product designer with a strong portfolio showcasing successful product design work.

• An activator: you energize teams and partners, build momentum around a vision and turn ambiguity into clear direction.

• A systems thinker: you design frameworks, patterns and rules that scale, not just individual screens.

• Hands on fluency with AI in your design practice, using AI tools for ideation, prototyping and content exploration and a point of view on designing AI powered experiences responsibly.

• You thrive at the intersection of design strategy, scaled solutions and craft.

• Expert skills in UX and product design, as well as structuring and planning work and owning the design process.

• Advanced proficiency in product design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma), including AI assisted and code based prototyping.

• Advanced strategic problem solving, systems thinking and collaboration skills.

• Proven ability to effectively use data and insights to set your direction and communicate your approach.

• You balance the need for near term solutions and long term vision.

• You are an expert in communicating how design connects to, serves and improves business outcomes.

• You exhibit a growth mindset and stay curious as tools and technology evolve.
