Managing Partner, State & Local Government, PNW, Oregon & Washington

At Gartner, we guide the leaders who shape the world, equipping them with indispensable insights, advice, and tools to achieve mission‑critical priorities.

Gartner Consulting is where that insight becomes action, helping the world’s most influential enterprises and public‑sector leaders turn complexity into competitive advantage.

As a Managing Partner in Gartner Consulting North America, you will advise the country’s most influential organizations on the decisions that will define their next decade.

The Opportunity

As a Managing Partner, you operate at the intersection of strategy, technology, and executive leadership. You are a trusted advisor to CIOs, CEOs, and senior government leaders—helping them navigate disruption, make high‑stakes decisions, and turn technology into a driver of growth, resilience, and transformation.

You will own and expand a portfolio of Gartner’s most important clients, bringing the full force of Gartner’s unmatched insights, benchmarking, and global expertise to their most mission‑critical challenges.

Why This Role Matters in North America

North America’s enterprises face a distinctive set of pressures:

• Modernizing deeply entrenched legacy environments without disrupting operations

• Balancing global digital acceleration with local compliance, risk management, and governance

• Turning data, AI, and cloud investments into measurable value—not pilots

• Managing ecosystem complexity across vendors, integrators, and internal stakeholders

• Optimizing cost while maintaining quality, security, and brand trust, Gartner Consulting helps leaders navigate this complexity with evidence‑based decisions, benchmarks, and pragmatic execution.

What You’ll Do

• Advise at the highest level. Partner with senior executives to define technology strategies that directly enable business outcomes—growth, efficiency, innovation, and risk mitigation.

• Turn insight into execution. Lead hands‑on consulting engagements grounded in Gartner insights, helping clients move from “what should we do?” to “how do we make this real?”

• Drive measurable value. Help organizations modernize platforms, rationalize applications, migrate to cloud, unlock data and analytics, manage cyber risk, and optimize cost and sourcing.

• Expand account portfolio and drive revenue growth through strategic relationship development and consistently identifying and closing new opportunities

• Lead exceptional teams. Inspire, coach, and develop high‑performing consultants who thrive on solving complex problems.

Where You’ll Make Impact

Your client work will span some of the most critical priorities facing enterprises today, including:

• Digital Acceleration & Enterprise Transformation

• Cloud Strategy and Operating Models

• Data, Analytics & AI Enablement

• Application and Portfolio Rationalization

• Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience

• Sourcing, Ecosystem & Vendor Optimization

• Contract, Cost & Value Optimization

• Benchmark‑driven decision making

With a particular focus on State & Local Government Agencies in Oregon (OR) and/or Washington (WA), you will help leaders modernize legacy environments while competing in increasingly digital, data‑driven markets.

What Sets You Apart

• A proven background in a well‑regarded consulting firm, balancing client delivery and revenue generation

• Strong foundation in technology problem‑solving (architecture, analytics, engineering, or strategy roles)

• Credibility across multiple IT domains—not just one “lane”

• A track record of leading teams with a strong collaboration mindset, influencing executives, and delivering outcomes—not just recommendations

• Intellectual curiosity and the confidence to adapt Gartner’s frameworks to each client’s unique situation

• The stamina and presence to juggle multiple senior‑level client priorities without losing focus or quality

• MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Who Thrives at Gartner in This Role

• Executive‑level relationship builders who are comfortable selling insight, not just services

• Leaders who are coachable, reflective, and hungry to get better every year

• Consistent over‑achievers who combine ambition with humility

• People energized by complexity, change, and the chance to shape how organizations evolve through technology
