Role Summary

As a Tax Compliance Specialist V (Senior Tax Expert), you will serve as a recognized authority in global client tax compliance. You will independently assess complex and ambiguous matters, provide strategic advice to management and senior stakeholders, and translate regulatory requirements into scalable controls, processes, and technology-enabled solutions.

Beyond resolving complex tax matters, you will help strengthen compliance frameworks, improve operational resilience, influence transformation initiatives, and guide specialists across the organization. Your expertise will help ensure consistent and compliant delivery of client tax services while supporting better customer and business outcomes.

About the Team

Client Tax Services (CTS) is a highly specialized function responsible for supporting ING's global client tax obligations, including tax form validation, FATCA and CRS classification, tax documentation, and reporting support. The team partners with Wholesale Banking, Retail Banking, KYC, Compliance, and other stakeholders to maintain high standards of regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and client service.

You'll join a team of experienced tax professionals, operations specialists, and change experts working together to improve processes, strengthen controls, and prepare for the future of tax operations.

Required Skills

We're looking for professionals who can combine advanced technical expertise with strong advisory and stakeholder management capabilities.

You may be a strong fit if you have:

• Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Taxation, Finance, Accountancy, Economics, Banking, Business, Law, or a related discipline.

• Extensive experience in tax compliance or a related field, typically exceeding 8 to 10 years.

• Advanced expertise in U.S. Withholding Tax, FATCA, CRS, tax documentation, classification, withholding, and reporting requirements.

• Proven ability to interpret regulations, manage compliance risk, and advise senior stakeholders on complex tax matters.

• Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, controls, reporting, and tax or financial systems.

• Experience influencing stakeholders across business, operations, compliance, risk, tax, and technology functions.

• Ability to coach others, lead knowledge-sharing initiatives, and promote consistent application of tax standards.

• Interest in automation, AI-assisted tools, digital workflows, and transformation initiatives that improve compliance and operational effectiveness.
