The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Future Generation Joint Venture on behalf of SC Hydro Pty Ltd is currently recruiting for Vac Truck Operators on the Snowy 2.0 Project in the Snowy Monaro region. The role operates on a 14:7 roster, 12-hour shifts which may include day and night work and require the ability to perform effectively in a remote and challenging environment.

The Vac Truck Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vacuum septic waste removal across the Snowy 2.0 Project. This role supports both Surface and Tunnel Operations through the completion of scheduled and reactive vacuum truck works, intersite raw septic waste transfers into the Camp STPs, and other General Services maintenance activities as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate vacuum truck equipment across Camp, Surface and Tunnel Operations.

• Complete scheduled and reactive vacuum septic waste removal activities.

• Conduct pre-start inspections, routine equipment checks and housekeeping activities.

• Ensure compliance with NHVR requirements, project procedures and relevant legislation.

• Maintain accurate records, logbooks and operational documentation.

• Collaborate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, external teams and subcontractors.

• Communicate operational issues, hazards and maintenance requirements in a timely manner.

• Respond effectively to changing site priorities and operational demands.

• Work safely in accordance with project safety systems, risk assessments and environmental requirements.

• Follow strict Project environmental processes whilst operating within a National Park.

• Undertake duties outside of vacuum truck operations as directed, including general labouring activities and supporting trades to achieve broader General Services Maintenance objectives.

• Promote a positive team culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within General Services.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENT

• Demonstrated experience operating vacuum trucks in construction, mining, civil or industrial environments.

• Sound understanding of heavy vehicle legislation and NHVR requirements.

• Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental compliance.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.

• Reliable attendance and commitment to rostered work arrangements.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Mechanically minded with troubleshooting capabilities.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Flexible and adaptable approach to changing operational requirements.

• Ability to live and work in a remote camp-based environment.

• Experience operating heavy vehicles in alpine environment.

• Experience using electronic reporting systems, logbooks and maintenance management systems (desirable).

• Experience working in both surface and underground/tunnel environments (desirable).

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum two (2) years' experience operating vacuum trucks.

• Current HR Driver's Licence (minimum requirement) with strong driving record.

• General Construction Induction Card (White Card).

• Ability to obtain and maintain site-specific competencies.

• Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing medical, drug and alcohol testing.

• Ability to obtain and maintain all project access requirements.

• Current Hepatitis A + B immunisations.

• Remote site experience.

• Confined Space and Working Safely at Heights (desirable).

• First Aid and CPR (desirable).

• MSMSS00020 – Operate Vacuum Loading System (Desirable)

The employment relationship will be governed by Australia or New Zealand Employment Law.
