Ericsson is seeking an experienced engineering professional with deep expertise in Optical Transport Networks, Fiber Optic Infrastructure, and Data Center Physical Layer Infrastructure. The role involves technical expertise/leadership, solution design support, rack integration, structured cabling, deployment support, and customer engagement for large-scale data center and network infrastructure projects across the United States. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in designing, deploying, integrating, and supporting large-scale network and data center infrastructure solutions. Experience in hyperscale environments, deploying & testing high-density fiber optic cabling, DWDM technologies, handling complex infrastructure upgradation/migration, rack-level integration is highly desirable. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, leveraging your expertise in data center physical infrastructure, complex fiber cabling systems, and optical transport networks to help customers build, deploy, and operate reliable, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure solutions.

What will you do:

• Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Optical Transport Networks, Fiber Optic Infrastructure, and Data Center Physical Layer Infrastructure across customer projects throughout the United States.

• Provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, including solution design, engineering reviews, deployment planning, integration, testing, commissioning, and operational support.

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and Ericsson internal stakeholders helping define infrastructure deployment methodologies, migration plans, and operational best practices for large-scale data center and network environments.

• Develop engineering standards, deployment procedures, methods of procedure (MOPs), testing plans, and technical documentation to ensure consistent and high-quality project execution.

• Provide technical mentorship, knowledge sharing, and training to internal teams, field engineers, and deployment partners.

• Support the implementing and testing of complex fiber optic infrastructure, including high-density fiber cabling, MPO/MTP architectures, fiber distribution systems, optical pathways, and structured cabling solutions.

• Support rack-level integration activities, including hardware installation standards, cabling designs, power and space optimization, and deployment readiness reviews.

• Support complex infrastructure migrations, network upgrades, technology refreshes, and data center expansion programs while minimizing operational risks and service disruptions.

• Review customer requirements, technical specifications, BOMs, rack elevations, cabling designs, and implementation plans to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound, operationally scalable, and fully executable by delivery teams.

• Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and industry best practices related to hyperscale data centers, optical networking, fiber infrastructure, and physical layer design standards.

Skills you will bring

• Recent hands-on physical deployment experience in data center networking, optical transport, or mission-critical infrastructure;

• Demonstrated experience with rack installation, fiber deployment, switch/router installation, testing, and commissioning in data centers.

• Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, or similarly large-scale and mission-critical data center environments.

• Practical knowledge of Data Center Interconnect architecture and high-speed optical transport.

• Experience with modular chassis platforms from one or more of the following vendors, or comparable systems: Cisco 8000 Series, Arista 7800 Series, and Juniper PTX Series.

• Experience installing or supporting data center computing and server platforms from HPE, Dell, Supermicro, NVIDIA DGX, or comparable manufacturers.

• Working knowledge of OLS, ROADM, transponders, MUX/DEMUX, EDFAs, and associated optical transport technologies.

• Hands-on experience with optical and fiber test equipment, including Optical Power Meter, Light Source, Fiber Microscope, VFL, OLTS, OTDR, and BERT Tester.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across the physical layer, fiber, network hardware, and optical transport domains.

• Proven ability to lead or author Methods of Procedure and execute high-risk changes with clear pre-check, implementation, validation, and rollback procedures.

• Strong break/fix, fault isolation, root-cause analysis, and technical documentation skills.

• Ability to operate as a Tier 3 escalation point and provide clear, actionable guidance to field teams.

• Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to explain technical risks and recommend practical improvements.

• Ability to work independently at customer sites while influencing outcomes across multiple teams and organizations.

• Strong analytical and documentation skills, including proficiency with Microsoft productivity tools.

• Consultative mindset, curiosity, attention to detail, and a consistent focus on operational excellence and safety.

• Willingness to travel to customer data centers, laboratories, warehouses, and other operational locations across the United States as required.

Your Pay

The salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Employees will receive company credits in an amount equal to the cost that Ericsson pays toward the cost of their medical and dental premiums for themselves and eligible covered dependents.

Your Financial Security

We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. The Ericsson US 401(k) Plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and Ericsson match $1 for every $1 you put into the 401(k) Plan on the first 3% of your eligible pay, plus 50 cents on every $1 on the next 2% of eligible pay. When you contribute at least 5% of eligible pay, you are receiving Ericsson’s full matching contributions of 4%. Matching and company automatic contributions stop when your total eligible pay for the year reaches the IRS limits. Your Time Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
