Objective
As a Senior Payroll Manager, you are responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll and employee rewards processes. You oversee end-to-end payroll activities, including salaries, bonuses, and deductions, while ensuring that rewards programs are administered in line with applicable regulations and internal policies. In this role, you lead the team, setting direction and aligning priorities with organizational objectives. You drive operational excellence by resolving complex issues, optimizing processes, and leveraging data and reporting to support decision-making and improve outcomes. You define and drive the payroll and rewards operational strategy, ensuring scalability, standardization, and alignment with organizational priorities. You manage resources effectively and make independent decisions that significantly impact processes, costs, and performance. Through strong leadership and analytical thinking, you address complex challenges and implement improvements that enhance the effectiveness of payroll and rewards operations.
Main responsibilities
Payroll operations
Oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
Ensure full compliance with country‑specific labor laws, tax legislation, social security rules, and corporate policies
Establish and maintain governance frameworks, internal controls, and audit readiness at organizational level
Lead prompt resolution of discrepancies, employee queries and system errors
Initiate improvements that strengthen accuracy, standardization and automation
Manage sensitive personal and financial data in alignment with GDPR and global data privacy standards
Ensure timely and transparent communication regarding payroll matters
Ensure compliance with global mobility policies and tax regulations
Own and drive the payroll operating model across multiple entities/regions
Ensure alignment of payroll strategy with business and HR transformation initiatives
Stakeholder management
Collaborate with HR, Finance, Rewards, Legal, and external vendors
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and key business stakeholders
Influence decisions related to payroll operations, service delivery, and process improvement initiatives
Ensure proactive, transparent communication and alignment across all stakeholder groups
Monitor SLA performance, quality of service, escalations, maintain high service quality
People management
Lead the team through direct and/or indirect reporting lines
Promote continuous learning around legislation, systems, and process improvements
Set clear direction, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with organizational goals
Drive KPI definition and performance governance across teams
Specific requirements
Strong payroll domain expertise and understanding of regulatory requirements: minimum 5-7 years of experience in HR areas (e.g. payroll, personnel administration, labor code)
minimum 4–5 years of leadership experience, preferably in a payroll or HR operations environment
Strong understanding of payroll systems, automation, and digital transformation opportunities
Able to work independently with self-confidence and build trust and strong relationships with peers and major stakeholders
Experience managing and developing teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to manage complex, and ambiguous challenges
High level of resilience and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-impact environment
Strong communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
Strong governance, risk management and compliance mindset
Experience implementing CI initiatives, and process improvements
Automation-driven and digital mindset
Ability to adapt to change and lead others through transformation
Strong command of English
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Economics, Management, Law, Public Administration
