Senior Software Engineer

For this U.S. based position, the expected base salary is $186,160 – $200,120 per year. Additional short-term incentive compensation is a typical part of our compensation structure and would be in addition to the above-stated range. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric IT Corporation seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Foxborough, MA.

Job Description:

• Utilize software development principles to address customer issues, mitigate security vulnerabilities, and reduce technical debt, particularly concerning the Onvif camera feature.

• Design, develop, maintain, and extend existing Java application code and Linux shell scripts.

• Analyze the end-to-end functionality of the system by tracing how data flows from sensors to the web UI and into the database.

• Perform system level troubleshooting and debugging.

• Make impactful contributions to the Business Logic and Database layer of an IoT device within the EcoStruxure family of products, which aids customers in managing and securing their data centers.

• Work with a diverse tech stack, including but not limited to: Embedded Linux, C daemons, Java, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL Build reusable code and libraries that others can leverage.

• Develop unit tests for all code developed.

• Collaborate with other team members on larger efforts and cross-cutting technical concerns.

• Ensure the technical feasibility of designs made by teammates, either in design or code reviews.

• Optimize code for speed and scale.

• Address bugs and security issues.

• Review the work of others while also receiving review of code developed, therein exercising a desire to give and receive feedback.

• Mentor junior engineers while fostering a can-do, positive attitude within the team.

• Troubleshooting and debugging on NetBotz hardware.

• Test all code changes on hardware before committing changes.

• Eligible for remote work 3 days/wk.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of experience in commercial software development for internal or external customers, or related occupation OR Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of experience in commercial software development for internal or external customers, or related occupation.

• Work experience to include:

  • Five (5) years of development experience in Java (versions 8, 11, or 17) with deployment on Linux systems;
  • Five (5) years of experience with Web Services;
  • Five (5) years of experience with Spring Framework;
  • Three (3) years of development experience in SQL, JavaScript, C, or C++;
  • Three (3) years of experience writing shell scripts on Linux or Unix;
  • IP Networking to include: HTTP/HTTPS, or SNMP; and
  • Git version control system in an Agile environment.
