The DNS Squad (consisting of 12 team members) holds the end-to-end responsibility for the resolving and authoritative DNS systems for Deutsche Telekom AG. These platforms are part of the critical infrastructure and are central core components of our german network.We are looking for a System Engineer to join our team for the resolving DNS platforms. These plattforms are resolving DNS Requests for mobile & fixed networks but also for IoT.The Team is responsible for the entire lifecycle and further development.You will be working closely with our supplier and devops engineers to design, integrate, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot our resolving DNS plattforms. Activity Description Implementation and operation of physical, virtualized and containerized system environments- focus on integrating a new IoT resolving Plattform in Kubernetes Analysis, troubleshooting and documentation of system malfunctions- Regular checks and refinement of automated processes and strategies such as failover, deployment and desaster recovery to ensure a highly available and resilient system with minimum recovery time Identification, documentation and structuring of new test use cases- Development and optimization of scripts (Ansible, Bash, Perl, Python) Implementing changes in test, reference and productive systems to enhance system stability and/or provide new features Development of new methods and tools for data analysis and monitoring- Cooperate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end system functionality Collaborate closely with the german operations team to streamline processes, enhance software, tools and system performance and apply innovative technologies and concepts

Qualifications Must-have requirements Fundamental knowledge of DNS (PowerDNS, DoH/DoT/DoQ) --> preferably you have worked in a TelCo company Extensive know-how in working with Kubernetes to orchestrate CNFs Proficiency in using as well as adapting configurations for K8s is a must Experience with IP networks, router and LAN/WAN technologies as well as troubleshooting them with tracing tools (e.g. wireshark) Hands-on experience of monitoring systems and data analytics (Prometheus, Medusa, …) Nice-to-have requirements Very good analytical skills combined with strong quality awareness Experience in classic and agile forms of cooperation Considerations Being oncall for round about 8 Weeks per year and rarely perform tasks outside of regular working hours Additional Information What do we offer you? Your Task

We are looking for a System Engineer to join the DNS Squad at the Telco Hub in Madrid. The DNS Squad, consisting of 12 team members, holds the end-to-end responsibility for the resolving and authoritative DNS systems for Deutsche Telekom AG. These platforms are part of the critical infrastructure and are central core components of the German network. You will be working on the resolving DNS platforms that handle DNS requests for mobile and fixed networks, as well as for IoT. You will work closely with suppliers and DevOps engineers to design, integrate, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot the resolving DNS platforms. The team is responsible for the entire lifecycle and further development of these systems.

Responsibilities

• Implementation and operation of physical, virtualized and containerized system environments with a focus on integrating a new IoT resolving platform in Kubernetes

• Analysis, troubleshooting and documentation of system malfunctions

• Perform regular checks and refinement of automated processes and strategies such as failover, deployment and disaster recovery to ensure a highly available and resilient system with minimum recovery time

• Identification, documentation and structuring of new test use cases

• Development and optimization of scripts (Ansible, Bash, Perl, Python)

• Implement changes in test, reference and productive systems to enhance system stability and/or provide new features

• Development of new methods and tools for data analysis and monitoring

• Cooperate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end system functionality

• Collaborate closely with the German operations team to streamline processes, enhance software, tools and system performance and apply innovative technologies and concepts

Your Profile

We are seeking a System Engineer with strong expertise in DNS systems, Kubernetes orchestration, and network technologies to join our DNS Squad. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with containerized environments, monitoring systems, and troubleshooting complex network infrastructures, preferably within the telecommunications industry.

Must Have Skills

• Fundamental knowledge of DNS (PowerDNS, DoH/DoT/DoQ)

• Experience working in a TelCo company (preferred)

• Extensive know-how in working with Kubernetes to orchestrate CNFs

• Proficiency in using and adapting configurations for Kubernetes

• Experience with IP networks, router and LAN/WAN technologies

• Experience troubleshooting networks with tracing tools (e.g. wireshark)

• Hands-on experience with monitoring systems and data analytics (Prometheus, Medusa)

• Availability for on-call duty for approximately 8 weeks per year

• Ability to perform tasks outside of regular working hours (rarely)
