Cloud Architect

Position Description:

Your future duties and responsibilities:

In this role, you will support our client’s application and data migration programme by designing and implementing secure Azure cloud solutions that enable the successful migration of business-critical applications and associated workloads. You'll work closely with the Azure hosting provider and internal delivery teams to define migration processes, assess architectural options and ensure cloud solutions meet security, performance, resilience and operational requirements. You'll collaborate with developers, infrastructure engineers, application support teams and business stakeholders throughout the migration lifecycle, providing expert technical guidance and helping to resolve complex challenges. By applying modern cloud architecture principles and promoting best practice, you'll help deliver reliable, scalable solutions that support our client’s long-term digital transformation objectives. Key responsibilities

• Lead & support Azure cloud migration architecture and strategy

• Assess & recommend migration approaches, including lift-and-shift, re-platforming and cloud-native solutions

• Design & define secure cloud migration processes and technical architectures

• Collaborate & align with Azure hosting providers and multidisciplinary delivery teams

• Produce & maintain detailed solution and technical design documentation

• Ensure & embed security, resilience, performance and operational best practices

• Diagnose & resolve complex cloud infrastructure and migration issues

• Support & guide developers and infrastructure engineers throughout delivery

• Advise & contribute to cloud architecture, automation, API integration and DevOps practices

• Evaluate & manage technical risks, dependencies and migration considerations

• Promote & maintain high standards of governance, documentation and delivery quality

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

You'll be an experienced Cloud Architect with a strong background in Azure migration and enterprise cloud transformation. You'll be confident advising clients on architecture decisions, balancing technical excellence with practical delivery and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills, analytical thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving will enable you to succeed in this role. Essential qualifications

• Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or Solution Architect delivering Azure cloud solutions

• Strong experience designing and delivering cloud migration programmes

• Experience developing Azure migration strategies and cloud architecture designs

• Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services

• Experience working with application migration, infrastructure modernisation and cloud transformation

• Ability to produce detailed technical and solution design documentation

• Strong technical analysis, solution analysis and requirements analysis skills

• Experience collaborating with developers, infrastructure engineers and business stakeholders

• Knowledge of cloud security, resilience, backup and disaster recovery principles

• Understanding of automation, APIs and DevOps practices

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Desirable qualifications

• UK Government or wider public sector project experience

• Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Solutions Architect Expert)

• Experience with hybrid cloud environments

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code and cloud automation tooling

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale migration programmes #LI-RJ1
