We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex IT and business projects in a complex regulated Belgian energy market environment. The role covers project definition, planning, scope, budget, risks, stakeholder alignment, vendor coordination, release readiness and service transition.

As a senior delivery lead, the Project Manager coordinates business sponsors, product owners, architects, delivery teams, operations, suppliers, market parties and governance bodies to ensure reliable, compliant delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end IT and business projects from project brief or project definition through delivery, testing, release, transition, closure and post-implementation review.

• Planning & Coordination of scope, timing and resources.

• Managing dependencies inside and between projects.

• Coordinating project members, IT teams and business experts.

• Detecting and mitigating risks and issues.

• Managing project communication and reporting to stakeholders

• Following up and updating the business case (scope, budget, alignment with sponsors).

• Guaranteeing the quality of deliverables and corporate process compliance.

• Analyzing and handling change requests.

• Acting as first contact point for the project sponsor.

• Managing contractors / vendors (Time & Material and fixed-price contracts).

• Drive release readiness, rollback planning, documentation, knowledge transfer, handover to service teams, lessons learned and continuous improvement.

• Supporting procurement activities, including the preparation and coordination of RFPs, vendor selection and contracting in collaboration with internal governance and sourcing teams.

• Ensure deliverables comply with applicable client standards for architecture, quality, testing, security, privacy, change, release and operational readiness.

Required Skills & Experience

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT (or equivalent experience)

• Prince2/PMBok/Agile PM or similar certifications.

• Additional certifications are a strong asset

Language Skills

• Dutch and/or French: C1–C2 level (mandatory)

• Second national language (Dutch/French): C1 or higher (preferred)

• English: C1 or higher

Experience

• Minimum 5 years or 10 years of professional IT or business project-delivery experience, including at least 5 /10 years as a Project Manager, IT Project Manager, Project Lead or comparable delivery-leadership role.

• Recent hands-on project-management experience within the last 3 years.

• Proven experience leading projects of significant size, ideally at least 300 working days or comparable complexity, with strong autonomy and ownership.

Technical Skills

• Azure, .NET/C#, React (or equivalents)

• API-driven and microservices architectures

• Data platforms (e.g. Databricks)

• DevOps, CI/CD, and monitoring practices

Competencies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management

• Leadership and mentoring mindset

• Structured, pragmatic, and result-oriented

Nice to Have

• Experience in Belgian energy/utilities sector

• Experience in Agile / DevOps environments
