Medior SAP Basis Administrator

Position Description:

Do you already have hands-on experience with SAP Basis and are you thinking about a change? Join our SAP Platform Operations team and help clients around the world keep their SAP landscapes secure, available and running smoothly – on premise, at hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, GCP) and in RISE with SAP private cloud environments. Most of SAP clients are now in the middle of their move from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, so you will not only operate stable landscapes but also take part in conversions, migrations and continuous modernization of the platform. We will build an individual training and certification path with you, with dedicated time for self-education, so you can grow towards a senior or specialist role within CGI (SAP HANA, cloud platforms, automation or SAP security).

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Day-to-day administration and support of SAP landscapes (S/4HANA, SAP ECC, NetWeaver, Fiori/Gateway, Web Dispatcher), working independently with limited supervision of senior colleagues

• Resolution of incidents, service requests and changes on SAP Basis level, including initial root-cause and performance analysis, escalating non-standard cases to senior colleagues

• Participation in project activities: SAP client/system copies, kernel and SPS patching, database and OS upgrades, S/4HANA conversions and migrations to cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP, RISE with SAP)

• Regular security patching (SAP Security Notes), certificate renewals and support of system hardening and SSO/identity integration activities (SAML, Microsoft Entra ID)

• Backup/restore and disaster-recovery operations and testing according to defined procedures, including support of high-availability setups

• Handling of alerts and maintenance of existing monitoring configuration in SAP Cloud ALM, Solution Manager / Focused Run or third-party tools

• Contribution to automation of repetitive Basis tasks (shell/PowerShell scripting, SAP LaMa) and day-to-day transport and release management

• Task standardization, documentation, knowledge sharing and support to less senior colleagues

• Self-development of your technical skills towards a selected technology domain

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 3–7 years of hands-on experience with SAP Basis administration (scope of the role will be set accordingly)

• Working experience with SAP HANA administration; knowledge of a second database platform (Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, Sybase ASE) is an advantage

• Very good understanding of kernel upgrades, SPS/patching, client and system copy operations

• Exposure to SAP running at a hyperscaler (Azure, AWS, GCP) or in RISE with SAP / private cloud edition

• Knowledge of Linux (SLES / RHEL) and/or Windows Server administration

• Experience with SAP monitoring and operations tooling (SAP Cloud ALM, Solution Manager / Focused Run, Dynatrace, Xandria or similar)

• Ability to prove and develop your own technical skills independently in the long term

• Very good written and spoken English

• Good working knowledge of ITIL 4 and ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow, JIRA)

Desired qualifications – nice to have

• Experience with S/4HANA conversion or migration projects

• Automation and infrastructure-as-code skills (SAP LaMa, Ansible, Terraform, shell/PowerShell, Git-based transport automation)

• Awareness of security and compliance frameworks relevant to SAP operations (ISO 27001, NIS2, SoD/SAP security basics)

• SAP certification (e.g. SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA / System Administration) or willingness to certify

• University degree (Bc. and above)

• Good German communication skills are an added value
