Your future duties and responsibilities:

Build and automate the core platform of a modern private cloud, from proof of concept through production rollout. You will combine hands-on VMware engineering with Infrastructure as Code, taking ownership of design, automation, deployment and operational handover across multiple European sites.

• Design and implement VMware Cloud Foundation 9 environments

• Configure management and workload domains, vSAN ESA and VDI infrastructure

• Develop reusable Ansible roles and Terraform modules for platform components

• Deliver infrastructure changes through GitLab CI and GitOps workflows

• Implement backup and recovery, platform services and security-hardening standards

• Support deployments, troubleshooting, acceptance testing and knowledge transfer

• Maintain consistency and automate updates across deployed environments

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Active and transferable SECRET-level security clearance - mandatory from the start date (the clearance process can be supported by CGI)

• 3+ years of hands-on VMware SDDC engineering experience at enterprise scale

• Strong experience with vSphere and vSAN; VMware Cloud Foundation experience is strongly preferred

• Hands-on Ansible experience - mandatory

• Practical experience with Terraform and Git-based workflows

• Windows Server and/or RHEL administration skills

• Good understanding of Active Directory, PKI and DNS/DHCP

• Strong quality mindset covering code reviews, automated testing and technical documentation

• Professional English at C1 level or above

• VCP/VCAP, Rubrik, Horizon VDI, Splunk or classified-environment experience is considered an advantage
