Digital Transformation & Smart Factory Leader

The Digital Transformation & Smart Factory Leader at Schneider Electric's Mount Juliet Plant II is a critical leadership role responsible for driving the plant's digital transformation roadmap and Smart Factory strategy. As part of the second manufacturing facility within our new Medium Voltage Engineering-to-Order (ETO) campus in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, this position will lead the deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement of Schneider Electric's digital manufacturing ecosystem. The role bridges Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT), enabling the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) vision through connected equipment, data integration, analytics, and cloud-based solutions. By leveraging Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure architecture and digital technologies, the position will play a key role in improving productivity, enhancing operational performance, enabling data-driven decision-making, and establishing a world-class Smart Factory environment. This position is part of a plant ramp-up initiative and will play a key role in establishing processes, supporting operational growth, and driving successful production scale-up from day one.

What Will You Do?

EcoStruxure Deployment & Adoption

• Drive the deployment, sustained adoption, and continuous improvement of Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure platforms across the facility, ensuring the site maximizes the value, scalability, and performance of our standard digital ecosystem.

Equipment Integration

• Lead and project manage the integration, validation, and deployment of digitally connected manufacturing equipment, ensuring seamless connectivity and alignment with Schneider Electric standards.

Connectivity Management

• Ensure all gateway, networking, and connectivity devices are properly configured, secured, and operational to enable reliable data exchange between shop floor assets, enterprise systems, and cloud platforms.

Digital Architecture & Strategy

• Advise plant leadership on equipment selection, connectivity requirements, digital standards, and architecture decisions to ensure alignment with current and future Smart Factory strategies.

Assessments & Action Plan Execution

• Lead and conduct digital manufacturing maturity assessments, identify improvement opportunities, and drive the execution of action plans that advance Smart Factory capabilities while delivering measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency, and overall plant performance.

Cybersecurity

• Serve as the Site Cybersecurity Leader/Coordinator, ensuring compliance with Schneider Electric cybersecurity standards and best practices.

Cross-Functional Technical Coaching

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to cross-functional teams implementing digital solutions and Smart Manufacturing initiatives across the campus.

Power Users Team Leadership

• Depending on business requirements and organizational evolution during Plant start-up phase, this role may provide functional, technical, or hierarchical leadership to a team of Power Users supporting SAP deployment, digital adoption, and Smart Factory initiatives across the facility. Direct supervisory responsibility for these resources may be temporary or permanent, based on organizational needs, ramp-up evolution, and the site's operating model.

Reporting Relationship

• The reporting structure for this role will align with the plant's deployment phase and organizational design. Depending on business needs and the maturity of site operations, the position may report to either the Manufacturing Engineering Manager or directly to the Plant Manager.

Experience & Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field is required.

Industry Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

• Experience implementing digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Smart Factory, automation, or IIoT solutions is highly desirable.

• Experience in new product introductions, greenfield projects, plant start-ups, or manufacturing transformations is a plus.

• Demonstrated digital mindset with a passion for leveraging technology, analytics, and automation to improve manufacturing performance.

• Strong project management and execution capabilities.

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently within cross-functional, multicultural, and virtual environments.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

Technical Expertise

• Proficiency in database management, data analytics, and visualization tools, including SQL and Business Intelligence platforms such as Tableau.

• Understanding of IIoT architectures and industrial connectivity technologies, including networking, wireless communications, gateways, routers, edge devices, and cloud-based platforms.

• Familiarity with manufacturing systems integration and digital architecture concepts.

• Understanding of OT/IT convergence and industrial cybersecurity principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong background in wireless communication technologies, digital device testing, and systems integration.

• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, CAN, Profibus, OPC-UA, and MQTT.

• Experience with Smart Factory, manufacturing analytics, or digital transformation deployments.

• Programming experience in Python, Node.js, or similar languages.

• Experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure solutions is highly desirable.

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 101,600 - USD 152,400 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
