Commercial Tyre Fitter – Bus Garages Didcot & Cheltenham

Commercial Tyre Fitter – Bus Garages | Didcot & Cheltenham

£28,500 + bonus + great benefits 37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | No weekends, no call-outs, no roadside work

A hands-on role with real independence — your own van, steady hours, and a better work–life balance.

We’re looking for someone practical, reliable and self‑motivated to look after the tyres across our customer’s bus depots in and around Didcot and Cheltenham. You’ll typically be responsible for around three garages, planning your day, managing your own workload, and making sure buses are safe, road-ready and compliant.

Whether you’re experienced in tyre fitting or looking to learn a new trade, this role offers stability, structure, and a shorter working week than many similar jobs in the industry.

Why this role stands out

• 37.5-hour week — shorter than many tyre-fitting roles, giving you better work–life balance.

• No weekend work, no call-outs, no roadside jobs — all work is depot-based.

• Your own company van — for travel between garages and for your commute.

• Full training provided if you’re new to tyre fitting, or a better routine if you already have experience.

• Independence — trusted to manage your own time and customers.

What you’ll be doing

• Servicing, fitting, maintaining, and inspecting tyres across bus fleets.

• Managing around three garages, planning your routes and workload independently.

• Working a 37.5-hour week, usually starting around 5–6am with some flexibility, to carry out essential maintenance while buses are in the depot.

• Around three times per month, completing essential night-time fleet inspections, usually starting around midnight/1am, so vehicles can be checked while they’re off the road.

• Recording job details and updating our internal system (training provided).

• Building strong, positive relationships with depot teams and representing Michelin professionally.

What we’re looking for

• Ideally based near Didcot.

• A full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years (insurance requirement).

• The right to work in the UK (this role isn’t eligible for sponsorship).

• Someone organised, reliable and comfortable working independently.

• Basic IT confidence — enough to complete job sheets and track stock (we’ll train you).

• Willingness to work early mornings and the occasional night shift, as these are essential to the role.

What you’ll get in return

• Health cash plan

• 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays (increasing after 2 years)

• Option to buy/sell additional holidays

• Free premium tyres for your own vehicle

• Salary sacrifice pension scheme with generous employer contributions

• Enhanced maternity/paternity leave

• Free digital GP, mental health support, nutrition consultations & annual health check

• Employee Assistance Programme

• Access to Michelin’s in‑house training centre to help you develop your skills and career
