Application Architect (m/f/d)

T-Systems, a German multinational belonging to the Deutsche Telekom Group, is looking for a senior IT professional with solid hybrid experience in application architecture, database development and management, with a particular focus on the integration of external systems through middleware technologies such as MQ, Kafka, SFTP and CFT. Specialized in COBOL and DB2 (LUW/ZOS) environments, with extensive experience in integrating legacy systems and modern distributed platforms.

Desired profile

• Proven experience in designing and implementing end-to-end integration solutions, connecting mainframe applications with cloud and Linux (Azure) environments.

• Solid experience in DB2 administration, performance optimization, data modeling, and data integration, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability of mission-critical systems.

• Practical experience with middleware platforms (IBM MQ, Axway CFT), file transfer protocols (SFTP/FTPS), and event streaming (Kafka), allowing for robust and efficient data exchange in heterogeneous system environments.

• Ability to analyze and solve complex multilayered challenges, encompassing applications, data, and infrastructure. Experience in automation, batch processing (Control-M/JCL), and modernization of legacy environments.

• Recognized for a holistic, architecture-oriented mindset, strong problem solving skills, and effective communication with technical and business stakeholders in international environments.

Technical Requirements

• COBOL — practical experience in developing and understanding legacy systems.

• DB2 LUW and/or DB2 z/OS:

  • Administration and maintenance
  • Backups and recovery
  • Modeling and DDL (ex: creating tables)
  • Index Management
  • Performance tuning and analysis
  • Loading and extracting data (Load/Unload)

• Knowledge of Mainframe and its integration with distributed systems.

• Cloud (Azure) and Linux environments, including automation via scripting.

• Control-M/JCL — creation and administration of workflows and scheduling of jobs.

• IBM MQ — channel configuration, queues, and use of tools such as MQ Explorer.

• Rocket Enterprise Server.

• Axway CFT — configuring transfer flows.

• Transfer protocols: SFTP, FTPS.
