As the Technical Lead for SDLC platform engineering and automation, you will define the technical direction for an enterprise AI platform that transforms the software development lifecycle through intelligent automation. Working in close partnership with Product Management and engineering leaders, you will design scalable AI capabilities — including integrations across the Atlassian ecosystem (Jira, Confluence, Forge, Atlas, Automation) and modern practices such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP), event-driven architectures, and retrieval-augmented workflows — that improve developer productivity, accelerate software delivery, and strengthen engineering quality across the organization.
You will serve as the technical authority for AI architecture, establishing engineering standards, guiding implementation decisions, and mentoring engineers while driving the evolution from event-driven AI capabilities toward increasingly autonomous, multi-agent systems. You will lead architecture reviews, evaluate emerging AI technologies, and ensure platforms are secure, resilient, observable, and aligned with enterprise architecture, governance, and Responsible AI principles — balancing innovation with enterprise-grade reliability and operational excellence
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline (must have); relevant AI or cloud certifications are a plus
8+ years of software engineering experience, including demonstrated technical leadership designing and delivering enterprise-scale software platforms (must have).
Demonstrated expertise in enterprise AI, Generative AI, and intelligent agent architectures, with experience building secure, scalable, production-ready AI solutions (must have).
Strong knowledge of software architecture, cloud-native engineering, distributed systems, API-first design, and event-driven architectures across Azure and AWS; experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, MCP, and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or Semantic Kernel
Experience integrating modern engineering platforms and DevSecOps ecosystems, including Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Forge, Atlas, Automation) and CI/CD pipelines; proven ability to influence technical direction and mentor engineers (preferred).
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering organization focused on transforming the software development lifecycle through AI-driven automation. You'll partner closely with Product Management, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Security, and DevSecOps teams to design and deliver scalable AI capabilities, and will engage regularly with engineering leaders, architects, and technical specialists to establish standards, evolve platform capabilities, and drive adoption of modern AI engineering practices.
YOU’RE GOOD AT
Performing and managing rigorous, logical, and accurate analysis of complex AI architecture and platform challenges — identifying and framing complex problems, addressing root causes, and drawing out innovative insights rather than surface-level fixes.
Writing clear and concise communications and leading conversations and meetings effectively — modulating your style to audience and context, actively listening, and driving to conclusions based on data and expertise to influence engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
Structuring, planning, and prioritizing complex technical work; anticipating and managing changing priorities while managing and delivering high-quality output that is mindful of impact on the broader business.
Partnering effectively with diverse teams and networks — Product Management, Platform Engineering, Security, and DevSecOps — while coaching engineers, creating opportunities for their development, and striking the right balance between empowerment and managerial direction.
Embracing change with adaptability and agility, bringing curiosity and creativity to continually evolve how the team works, while performing with the highest level of integrity and a growth mindset that generates trust across the organization.
At BCG, our people and relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that in-person collaboration plays an important role in our culture, mentorship, and professional development.
For this role, you will generally be expected to work from a BCG office or in person with clients on a regular basis (typically around 50% of working time), depending on business needs and in line with local policies and practices.
We aim to provide a dynamic and collaborative environment that fosters connection and teamwork.
