Bosch Corporate Research - Research and Technology Center Asia Pacific brings together an international and interdisciplinary team of scientists, conducting cutting-edge technology research based on Asia's excellent research and engineering capabilities. Scientifically verified knowledge and insights are the foundation for our sustainable solutions. Through continuous innovation, we explore the development direction of Bosch's future products, evaluate the feasibility of new technologies, and translate them into practical solutions, driving technological trends and creating new business opportunities.
We are looking for an excellent Robotic Joint Module System Design and Control R&D Scientist responsible for developing cutting-edge control technology for next-generation robotic actuators and joint modules.
This position focuses on module-level control of a single robotic joint module, covering motor control, actuator control, sensing, system modeling, and collaborative optimization between control and joint hardware. We do not require candidates to have a robotics background; candidates with experience in motor control, servo control, motion control, electromechanical actuators, or precision drive systems who wish to apply their technology to the robotics field are also welcome.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting research, pre-development, and patent applications for innovative control technologies for robotic joint modules and electromechanical actuators.
Developing motor and actuator control algorithms for single-joint robotic modules.
Designing and optimizing torque/current loop, speed loop, and position loop for high-performance robotic actuators.
Developing control strategies to improve torque density, dynamic response, positioning accuracy, stability, and energy efficiency of robotic joints.
Conducting research on technologies such as disturbance rejection, friction compensation, feedforward control, parameter identification, and model-driven control for robotic joint modules.
Developing and verifying torque control and force-related control functions for robotic actuators, including impedance/compliance control where applicable.
Analyzing the impact of factors such as reducer/mechanical transmission, friction, backlash, stiffness, inertia, load changes, and mechanical resonance on joint control performance.
Conducting modeling, simulation, and experimental verification of the motor-mechanical transmission-sensor-controller-load system.
Implementing and verifying control algorithms on real-time embedded control platforms, conducting prototype testing and performance optimization.
Working closely with mechanical and electrical R&D personnel to achieve integrated optimization of joint hardware and control systems.
Collaborating closely with the Corporate Research team in Renningen, Germany, to conduct project R&D and build technical capabilities.
Working closely with various Bosch business units to provide competitive cutting-edge technical solutions and promote the transformation of technological achievements into products.
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related fields, with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
Profound professional knowledge and rich theoretical and practical experience in motor control, servo control, or actuator control, with a deep understanding of closed-loop control systems.
In-depth mastery of PMSM/BLDC motor control, familiar with FOC/SVPWM, current/torque control, speed control, and position control.
Rich experience in servo system design, controller parameter tuning, system identification, and dynamic performance optimization.
Experience with advanced control methods, including feedforward control, disturbance rejection, friction compensation, model-driven control, adaptive control, observer control, or vibration suppression.
Experience in robotic joint/robot actuator control is preferred; experience in industrial servo, precision motion control, aerospace actuators, electric drive systems, or other electromechanical system control is also welcome.
Good knowledge of robotic joint module hardware, familiar with key components such as motors, reducers/mechanical transmissions, encoders, bearings, actuator electronics, and mechanical loads.
Understanding the impact of factors such as reduction ratio, backlash, friction, stiffness, inertia, transmission efficiency, and mechanical resonance on actuator control performance.
Experience in real-time control algorithm development and implementation based on DSP, MCU, FPGA, or other embedded control platforms.
Proficient in using MATLAB/Simulink or other system modeling and simulation tools.
Familiar with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, MATLAB.
Experience in torque sensing, force sensing, impedance control, compliance control, or high-performance robotic actuators is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, proficient in oral and written English.
High efficiency, goal-oriented, clear thinking, with good project work experience.
Excellent technical documentation and scientific writing skills.
Passion for technological innovation.
Good teamwork spirit, able to adapt to an international working environment.
