• Job Description

  • Lead new business acquisition activities for automotive OEM customers.

  • Analyze and consolidate customer RFQs, RFIs, technical requirements, and commercial requirements, and drive proposal activities toward business award.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Finance, and other stakeholders to develop the optimal customer proposal.

  • Evaluate profitability, cost, technical feasibility, and quality risks, and define the business acquisition strategy.

  • Lead quotation development, pricing strategy, business case preparation, and internal approval processes.

  • Work closely with global business units and international locations to develop competitive solutions for Japanese customers.

  • Drive all activities from the pre-award phase through nomination and ensure a smooth handover to the project execution team after award.

• Background

  • The automotive industry is undergoing significant transformation driven by electrification, automated driving, and advanced safety technologies.

  • In sensor-related businesses, customer requirements, technical specifications, cost targets, quality expectations, delivery schedules, and regulatory compliance requirements are becoming increasingly complex.

  • To accelerate business growth, we are seeking a professional who can strategically drive new business acquisition activities.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen acquisition efforts by balancing customer value, profitability, technical competitiveness, and execution feasibility.

• What Makes This Position Attractive

  • Opportunity to directly contribute to the growth of next-generation sensing technologies.

  • More than a traditional sales role, this position leads acquisition strategies by balancing customer requirements, technology, cost, profitability, and risk.

  • Exposure to the entire business acquisition process, including RFQ management, quotation preparation, pricing strategy, business evaluation, internal approvals, customer proposals, and global collaboration.

  • Gain a comprehensive view of the business by working across multiple functions.

  • Frequent collaboration with global teams provides opportunities to strengthen practical English communication, negotiation, and project leadership skills.

  • The role offers a unique opportunity to shape business direction from the pre-award stage and design the pathway to future growth.

• Current Challenges and Expected Role

  • As customer requirements become more sophisticated, there is an increasing need to quickly structure complex technical and commercial challenges and support effective decision-making.

  • Due to the large number of stakeholders and global sites involved, improving information management, clarifying key issues, and increasing decision-making speed are critical challenges.

  • The position requires strong leadership to align internal and external stakeholders and drive opportunities through to business award.

  • The successful candidate will balance customer value and business profitability while identifying opportunities that support future growth.

  • In addition to managing individual opportunities, the role is expected to contribute to the standardization of acquisition decision criteria, risk assessment methodologies, and proposal processes.

• Team Structure

  • Work closely with specialists from Sales, Business Units, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Finance.

  • For each opportunity, a cross-functional team is established, with the Business Acquisition Manager serving as the central coordinator responsible for managing proposals, quotations, issues, risks, and key decisions.

  • Drive projects in cooperation with both domestic and international stakeholders.

  • Collaborate regularly with global product business units, engineering centers, and commercial organizations to develop competitive customer solutions from a global perspective.

• Team Culture

  • A professional environment that values customer focus and business-oriented thinking.

  • Encourages open discussion to drive optimal decision-making.

  • Promotes ownership, initiative, and continuous improvement.

  • Because the role focuses on highly uncertain pre-award activities, flexibility, speed, and strong analytical skills are essential.

  • Success is achieved through teamwork and stakeholder collaboration rather than individual effort alone.

• Travel Requirements

  • Domestic travel to customer locations may be required.

  • Depending on project and business needs, travel to domestic and international engineering, manufacturing, and business sites may be necessary.

  • Travel frequency varies based on customer assignments, project phases, and business requirements.

• Remote Work

  • Flexible remote work arrangements are available depending on business needs.

  • Office presence or travel may be required for customer meetings, workshops, critical reviews, and hardware evaluations.

  • The role involves frequent online collaboration with international teams, supporting a flexible combination of remote and onsite work.

• Required Experience and Skills

  • Professional experience in the automotive industry or related sectors such as electronics, semiconductors, sensors, or software.

  • Experience in Sales, Business Development, Technical Sales, or Project Management.

  • Experience working directly with customers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Basic understanding of RFQs, quotations, business cases, pricing, cost structures, profitability, or risk management.

  • Strong analytical thinking and communication skills.

  • Ability to support customer interactions and internal coordination in Japanese.

  • Self-driven mindset with the ability to structure complex issues and proactively drive actions forward in uncertain environments.

• Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Business experience with automotive OEM customers.

  • Experience in RFQ management, series production acquisition, price negotiations, contract negotiations, and business case evaluation.

  • Knowledge of ADAS, radar, camera, and sensor technologies.

  • Understanding of development processes, product launches, quality requirements, and change management.

  • Knowledge of financial metrics, cost structures, and profitability analysis.

  • Experience conducting meetings, preparing materials, and coordinating with customers or international teams in English.

• English Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with international teams through meetings and email.

  • Expected to be capable of participating in discussions related to technical, commercial, and project topics in English.

  • For complex negotiations or contractual discussions, support from relevant stakeholders will be available as needed.

  • Candidates who are comfortable using English and motivated to continuously develop their communication skills through practical experience are encouraged to apply.

• Frequency of English Usage

  • English is used regularly when interacting with global teams, business units, and engineering organizations.

  • Opportunities to use English include email communication, Teams meetings, presentations, and documentation.

  • Depending on project assignments, multiple English meetings per week may be required.

• Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Able to balance both customer value and business value.

  • Thinks beyond simply responding to requests and focuses on what should be won and how to win it.

  • Demonstrates initiative and ownership in uncertain environments.

  • Capable of influencing and aligning stakeholders to achieve results.

  • Combines strategic thinking with strong execution capability.

  • Able to balance technical, commercial, quality, and profitability considerations.
