We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Product Architect to lead the architecture, design, and development of advanced automotive Display Systems and Cockpit Domain Controllers (CDC). The candidate will be responsible for translating customer requirements into robust mechanical product architectures, driving concept development, platform creation for next-generation digital cockpit solutions. The role requires close collaboration with customers, systems, hardware, manufacturing and supplier teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and production-ready products.
Customer Requirements & Technical Leadership
Review and analyze customer requirements, specifications, statements of work, and technical standards.
Clarify customer expectations and translate requirements into product architecture and engineering specifications.
Lead technical discussions with customers during Pre-RFQ, RFQ and concept development phases.
Drive customer negotiations and resolution of technical issues related to product specifications, packaging, performance, reliability, and manufacturing feasibility.
Prepare and deliver technical customer presentations, architecture proposals, and concept reviews.
Concept Development & Mechanical Design
Initiate and develop initial concept CAD models to evaluate packaging, mechanical feasibility, serviceability, and system integration.
Lead mechanical design of display assemblies, enclosures, chassis, brackets, heat sinks, and mounting systems.
Define mechanical interfaces between displays, CDCs, vehicle dashboards, and associated electronic modules.
Bill of Materials & Cost Engineering
Prepare and maintain initial Bill of Materials (BOM) for concept phases.
Support product cost estimation and architecture-driven cost optimization.
Evaluate alternative materials, manufacturing processes, and supplier solutions to meet cost targets.
Manufacturing Strategy & Industrialization
Develop initial manufacturing flow and assembly concepts during product architecture phases.
Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure production feasibility.
Display Systems Engineering
Support development of: Instrument Clusters, Center Image Displays, Passenger Displays, Multi Display Modules, PHUD System, Rear Seat Entertainment, Cameras
Address mechanical, optical, thermal, vibration, and reliability requirements of automotive display systems.
Collaborate with display and optics teams to optimize product performance and integration.
Cockpit Domain Controller Integration
Define packaging architecture for high-performance Cockpit Domain Controllers.
Optimize designs for robustness, reliability, weight reduction, and cost.
Ensure effective packaging, thermal management, EMC protection, and serviceability considerations.
Product Architecture & Platform Development
Use established architectures based on customer and market requirements.
Lead the development of new platform architectures for display systems, digital cockpit products, and domain controllers.
Drive architecture trade-off studies considering cost, weight, thermal performance, manufacturability, reliability, and scalability.
Create architecture roadmaps aligned with business objectives and future technology trends.
Qualification, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience in automotive product development.
Proven experience in mechanical architecture, product concept development, and customer engagement.
Strong expertise in electronic packaging, thermal management, and structural design.
Hands-on experience with CAD tools such as CATIA, Creo, NX, or SolidWorks.
Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use AI in day-to-day work.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Digital Cockpit, IVI, Instrument Clusters, HUD, Multi-Display Systems, and Domain Controllers.
Experience in aluminum die casting, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, and EMI/EMC shielding solutions.
Problem Solving: Ability to evaluate complex technical and organizational challenges and identify practical solutions.
