Do you want beneficial technologies being shaped by your ideas? Whether in the areas of mobility solutions, consumer goods, industrial technology or energy and building technology - with us, you will have the chance to improve quality of life all across the globe. Welcome to Bosch.
This position is primarily responsible for leading the conveying line product R&D project team, managing the entire lifecycle from project initiation to mass production delivery. It requires coordinating resources from R&D, procurement, process, production, and logistics. The role is based in Changzhou/Suzhou to conduct R&D project management work and maintain close collaboration with the Xi'an production base, ensuring projects are delivered on quality, on time, and within budget.
Chinese Description:
Project Planning and Initiation Management: Receive product requirements from the Shanghai product management team, understand requirements from a project management perspective, evaluate workload and resource needs, and translate product requirements into clear project goals and delivery boundaries. Develop a master project plan, defining key milestones, task breakdown, and responsible parties.
Cross-departmental Team Collaboration: Lead a cross-functional project team composed of R&D, procurement, process, production, logistics members, effectively promoting collaboration within a matrix organizational structure. Clarify the collaboration boundaries of each function, resolve resource conflicts and collaboration obstacles during project progression.
Multi-project Parallel Management: Coordinate the progress of multiple conveying line R&D projects simultaneously, reasonably allocating personal and team members' time and energy. Establish a clear multi-project prioritization evaluation system, dynamically adjusting resource allocation based on business urgency, resource availability, and other dimensions.
Progress and Delivery Control: Develop and maintain the master project plan, breaking down key milestones into traceable task nodes. Regularly organize project meetings, review progress deviations, promptly identify delay risks, and initiate countermeasures to ensure timely project delivery.
Cost and Procurement Budget Control: Responsible for the preparation and execution control of project budgets, developing detailed cost breakdowns. Collaborate closely with the procurement team to optimize supplier selection and negotiation strategies, controlling costs while ensuring quality and delivery. Requires sufficient technical understanding to interpret key component selection and cost composition in technical solutions, making reasonable budget judgments.
Risk Identification and Response: Establish a project risk management mechanism, proactively identify potential risks in technology, supply chain, schedule, etc., develop contingency plans, and promptly report significant deviations and formulate corrective actions.
Quality and Process Collaboration: Collaborate closely with process engineers, introducing manufacturability reviews at the design stage. Organize prototype trials and quality verification, promoting a smooth transition of products from the R&D stage to the mass production stage.
Cross-location Collaboration and Travel Coordination: Build trust and efficient collaboration between the Changzhou R&D and Xi'an production teams. Collaboration with the Shanghai product management team is mainly through online communication, generally without the need for business trips to Shanghai; occasional business trips to Xi'an to coordinate on-site work at key nodes.
Education and Major: Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related majors. Candidates with relevant industry backgrounds in conveying lines, automation, logistics conveying, etc., are preferred. Expertise in hardware architecture design, transmission system design, etc., will be a significant plus. For candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds such as project management or industrial engineering, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted based on their work experience.
Work Experience: At least 2 years of industrial product R&D project management experience and approximately 1 year of mechanical design engineer experience. Proven experience in managing multiple parallel projects, with the ability to maintain clear prioritization and resource allocation under multi-tasking scenarios. Practical experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams including procurement, process, production, and logistics. Experience working in German foreign companies is a plus.
Professional Knowledge: Possess a solid foundation in mechanical engineering. It should be noted that the technical requirements for this position are not for the project manager to personally engage in technical design or technical liaison with product management (this part is handled by R&D engineers), but rather require the project manager to "understand technology." This primarily serves two core scenarios: first, to better formulate project plans, accurately assess the workload, cycle, and critical path of technical solutions; second, to better control procurement budgets, interpret key component selection and cost composition in technical solutions, and make reasonable budget judgments and negotiation decisions when collaborating with the procurement team.
Business Skills: Familiar with New Product Development (PEP) processes and Stage-Gate methodology; proficient in using project management software (e.g., MS Project); master project cost management and budget control methods; understand quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949); proficiency in SAP system operations is a plus.
Soft Skills and Qualities: Possess excellent cross-departmental communication and coordination skills and influence, capable of driving collaboration among multi-functional teams without direct reporting relationships; possess excellent multi-project concurrent management skills, able to maintain stable judgment under high pressure; possess conflict management and negotiation skills; able to build trust and efficient collaboration between the Changzhou R&D and Xi'an production teams, adept at using remote communication tools to bridge distances; possess strong self-drive and learning ability. Good English communication skills are a plus, but not a mandatory requirement – for candidates with excellent overall qualities but limited English communication, we welcome them, and internal English training can be provided for gradual improvement after joining.
Other Requirements: Able to adapt to occasional business trips, mainly for cross-location R&D-production collaboration between Changzhou and Xi'an; identify with Rexroth's corporate culture and values.
