• Support contract administration and provide commercial advice under relevant JCT, NEC and other forms of contract.

• Identify, assess and communicate project risks, opportunities, key cost drivers and potential mitigation measures.

• Develop effective working relationships with clients and stakeholders through responsive communication and reliable delivery.

• Collaborate with project management, building surveying, design, health and safety, engineering and other specialists to provide integrated solutions.

• Undertake benchmarking, cost analysis, value management, and commercial assurance activities using reliable data and sound professional judgement.

• Manage your workload, deadlines, and project records in accordance with commission plans, quality procedures, and governance requirements.

• Support fee monitoring, change control, forecasting, and timely invoicing on the commissions to which you are assigned.

• Contribute to bids, proposals, case studies, market engagement and the identification of repeat business opportunities.

• Share knowledge and provide day-to-day support to graduates, apprentices, and assistant-level colleagues.

• Maintain current knowledge of construction markets, professional standards, digital tools, and emerging industry practices.

About you

• Experience in delivering quantity surveying or cost management services within a consultancy, client-side or contracting environment.

• Experience across one or more property or built environment sectors, such as commercial, healthcare, education, residential, public sector, life sciences or mixed-use development.

• A sound understanding of pre-contract and post-contract cost management, with practical experience preparing cost plans, estimates, tender documentation and commercial reports.

• Working knowledge of UK construction contracts, particularly JCT and/or NEC forms.

• Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills, with attention to detail and the ability to explain cost information clearly.

• Confident communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.

• An organised and proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver reliable outputs to agreed deadlines.

• The ability to work independently on defined responsibilities while contributing positively to a collaborative team.

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.

• Either MRICS or approaching MRICS chartership, with accreditation expected within 6 months of appointment.

• Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and relevant industry tools such as CostX or comparable measurement and cost management platforms.
