The Specimen Management Associate II ensures samples received and/or shipped are accurately maintained, tracked, and managed for complete traceability and accountability. This role supports sample reconciliation, issue resolution, customer communication, and compliance with laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements. Schedule will be Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm with biweekly overtime on Saturdays, not mandatory, but highly encouraged.
Reconcile sample shipments and resolve routine issues to ensure samples are accurately identified, sorted, and labeled for testing and/or storage
Identify errors or potential problems and escalate concerns to senior-level staff
Notify customers of sample receipt and respond to routine inquiries as needed
Support after-hour alarms and other job-critical functions as required
Support safety, quality, and 6S requirements and initiatives
Notify appropriate staff of supply shortages
Communicate clearly, accurately, and timely with cross-functional stakeholders
Perform work in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology completed OR 60 hours of college coursework with at least 24 semester hours in natural science or medical laboratory coursework required
Basic knowledge of laboratory systems and procedures with demonstrated ability to navigate and resolve routine challenges
Experience supporting sample shipment reconciliation, sample identification, sorting, labeling, testing, and/or storage workflows - ideally with clinical materials, but any shipping experience is acceptable
Knowledge of GLP/GDP regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience in data entry, ideal would-be previous Watson experience, but Excel is a good equivalent
Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
Strong attention to detail and commitment to sample traceability and accountability
Effective organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with coworkers, managers, customers, and clients
Self-motivated and able to work well independently and as part of a team
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Flexibility to adjust to variable biological sample receiving volumes, including higher-volume batch days and lower-volume operational support days
Commitment to continuing education through self-study, training sessions, and meetings

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $35,900.00 - $74,800.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
