We have an opportunity to impact your career and provide an environment where you can push the limits of what’s possible.
As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank’s Sales & Research Technology team, you will contribute to the creation, design, and delivery of market-leading, client- and sales-facing web applications for the J.P. Morgan Markets Execute platform. You will apply strong front-end engineering skills, modern development practices, and structured problem-solving to build secure, stable, and scalable UI solutions with meaningful business impact.
Job responsibilities
Build and support client- and sales-facing UI capabilities of the Markets Execute platform and its related suite of applications.
Develop and evolve front-end architecture blueprints, including component hierarchies and scalable implementation patterns (e.g., component composition, state management with Redux Toolkit, TypeScript best practices) to support maintainable, modular, and testable codebases across teams.
Collaborate with Product Owner, UX, and QA to analyse requirements; participate in estimation, planning, and architecture/design sessions.
Develop user interface features using modern JavaScript/TypeScript and React, following established engineering standards and leveraging the team’s existing component library.
Influence application design and delivery practices through code reviews, technical discussions, and contributions to shared libraries/frameworks where appropriate.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to improving delivery quality, predictability, and engineering best practices within the team.
Learn continuously about financial markets through colleagues, business partners, training resources, and workshops.
Optimize web applications for performance and responsiveness; contribute to secure, stable operational standards (e.g., reliability, resiliency, and production readiness).
Use enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted refactoring, test acceleration, troubleshooting), while applying clear validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing).
Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
Apply reactive programming and ensure operational stability across environments with robust automated testing and CI/CD.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience on front-end experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, ReactJS, Redux Toolkit, RxJS, and modern UI frameworks.
Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, reactive programming, and operational stability.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
Proven ability to independently solve design and functionality problems with minimal oversight.
Experience building high-performance desktop/web applications and optimizing for speed and UX.
Strong test-driven development practice using modern source control and continuous integration.
Experience working in fast-paced, Agile environments within financial services.
Proficiency with AI-powered development tools to streamline workflows, improve code quality, and enhance developer efficiency.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
Hands-on experience with UI automation testing tools is required (E2E and/or integration testing), and ability to run/maintain tests in CI/CD.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
