As a Managing Director, Asia Pacific Private Bank Chief Risk Officer in the Private Bank Risk team, you will set the regional risk strategy and provide independent oversight across key risk types. You will work closely with business leadership to deliver strong governance, disciplined risk decisioning, and thoughtful challenge to support sustainable performance. You will represent the risk view in senior forums and engage with regulators, bringing clarity, judgement, and a collaborative approach.
Job responsibilities
Lead the regional risk function, setting clear priorities and accountability across the team
Define and execute the Asia Pacific risk strategy aligned to business objectives and risk appetite
Oversee risk management across investment, credit, operational, fiduciary, reputational and conduct risks
Assess and challenge new business initiatives and product changes, ensuring risks are identified, documented and mitigated
Chair and contribute to governance forums and committees to strengthen oversight and decisioning
Partner with cross-functional teams to drive consistent controls, monitoring and issue management across the region
Engage with regulators and internal stakeholders as a senior risk leader, providing credible and transparent risk perspectives
Advise senior leadership with clear, practical guidance that balances growth, client outcomes and control standards
Develop and retain diverse talent, building a strong culture of risk ownership, learning and performance
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Minimum 15 years of experience in banking or financial services, including senior leadership accountability
Demonstrated experience in risk management within a large financial institution, with strong relevance to wealth management or private banking
Proven ability to provide independent oversight and effective challenge to senior business stakeholders
Strong knowledge of regional regulatory expectations and experience engaging regulators in a senior capacity
Excellent stakeholder management skills with a track record of building trusted, collaborative relationships
Executive-level communication skills, including the ability to explain complex risk topics clearly to varied audiences
Strong judgement and decision-making capability in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
Demonstrated people leadership experience, including hiring, developing and retaining high-performing teams
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Prior experience as a Chief Risk Officer (or equivalent regional risk lead) for a wealth management or private banking business
Multi-jurisdiction experience across Asia Pacific, with an ability to navigate differing regulatory regimes
Experience leading or enhancing enterprise-wide risk frameworks, governance, and reporting practices
Professional risk qualification (for example, Financial Risk Manager (FRM)) or comparable credential from a reputable professional body
Track record of driving a strong risk culture while enabling responsible business growth
