The Equipment Engineering Manager 1 is responsible for leading a team of Equipment Engineers and Technicians to achieve world-class equipment performance, manufacturing excellence, cost competitiveness, and people development. The manager ensures equipment reliability, safety, quality, and operational efficiency while driving continuous improvement and supporting business objectives.
Own equipment performance metrics including:
Ensure equipment stability and manufacturing readiness.
Drive TPM and preventive maintenance strategies.
Lead equipment recovery and escalation during manufacturing interruptions.
Partner with Process Engineering to improve tool capability and process stability.
Deliver daily manufacturing support to achieve output targets.
Manage excursion response, chronic issues, and tool bottlenecks.
Ensure compliance to operating procedures and engineering standards.
Optimize capacity and throughput performance.
Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Lead risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and follow-up.
Support audits and quality system compliance.
Ensure process changes are properly reviewed and controlled.
Manage equipment maintenance budgets.
Identify cost reduction opportunities.
Drive spare part optimization.
Improve labor productivity and maintenance efficiency.
Lead equipment installation and startup activities.
Support technology transfers and new node qualifications.
Manage equipment upgrade projects.
Evaluate and introduce new technologies and automation solutions.
Recruit, coach, and develop Equipment Engineers.
Build leadership pipeline and succession plans.
Drive employee engagement and performance development.
Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and safety.

Advanced problem-solving and statistical analysis skills
Evaluates, selects and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products. Oversees the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers' technical notices, upgrades and safety issues. Studies equipment performance and reliability. Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process. Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations. Defines and writes
Maximizes yield by working on tools, the process, or wafer fabrication recipes. Troubleshoots wafer fabrication problems and performs root cause analysis. Works with other process areas to understand and control process deviations. Long-term investigation of defect issues may require extensive work with shift engineering and other functional areas. Evaluates products to ensure they meet the required design and performance specifications. Conducts research to assess process adjustment requirements and recommends process improvements or equipment changes needed to efficiently manufacture new product or part types.
