Field-based Commercial Trainer EEMEAP (m/f/d)
This position works out of our Wiesbaden site, Abbott GmbH in our Core Diagnostics division.
Primary Objective of Position
The Field-based Commercial Trainer is responsible for driving, coordinating, improving and executing commercial trainings, field coaching and capability development for customers and employees across countries.
The role ensures effective transfer of knowledge into practice by supporting application of skills in the field, strengthening commercial execution, and improving overall sales force effectiveness and business performance.
Major Accountabilities
Execute and drive area training concepts across the region either internally (as trainer) or through facilitation with external training providers and subject matter experts
Drive and execute structured training and enablement plans across key commercial functions (Sales, Marketing, Service), ensuring alignment with business priorities
Deliver high-quality commercial training programs using different formats (classroom, virtual, and blended learning), focusing on product knowledge, sales skills and customer engagement
Provide structured and continuous follow-up through field coaching (1:1 and team-based), ensuring translation of training into daily practice and measurable performance improvement
Design, implement and manage onboarding and new hire training curricula, accelerating time to productivity and ensuring consistent capability development
Identify capability gaps in existing field teams and develop targeted training and coaching plans in collaboration with sales leadership
Ensure regional training requirements and standards are consistently deployed across affiliates, while allowing adaptation to local market needs
Drive continuous improvement of training content, tools and delivery methods based on feedback, performance data and evolving business requirements
Support regional organizations in establishing standardized training frameworks, tools and best practice sharing across markets
Develop, adapt and maintain training materials, tools and content to support both knowledge transfer and practical application in the field
Contribute to and support execution of marketing communication activities including campaigns, events, symposia and internal engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with field execution
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Service, Commercial Excellence and HR to ensure integrated capability development and consistent commercial execution
Monitor, measure and evaluate training effectiveness using defined KPIs (e.g. performance metrics, capability assessments, training completion), and identify improvement actions
Assess return on investment of training initiatives and ensure alignment with business outcomes
Ensure all training, coaching and related activities are conducted in compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements and company policies
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences or related field preferred
Minimum 5+ years of experience in diagnostics, medical devices or related commercial roles
Strong knowledge of products, market environment, customer landscape and commercial processes
Proven track record of delivering training programs and facilitating sessions for various audience sizes
Demonstrated experience in field coaching and developing commercial teams in real customer-facing environments
Strong communication, presentation, facilitation and influencing skills
Experience in program and project management, including planning, execution and tracking
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and collaborate across functions and geographies
Change management experience is highly desirable
Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage
High willingness to travel frequently with strong field presence
