Overview

This role will be responsible for supporting packaging sourcing in Greater China, focus on corrugated sourcing, and other paper packaging materials as business demands, for both inhouse production and contract manufacturing partners, to drive cost optimization and total best value for the business.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership for packaging sourcing in seeking appropriate procurement opportunities/partners across Greater China including BCP and supply optimization as well as support innovation calendar as per marketing schedule

• Working closely with Marketing, R&D and Supply Chain for supply safety, competitive bidding and realization of innovation projects.

• Leading and driving co-man packaging sourcing and benchmarking and optimization supply for co-man projects via proactive involvement in development, communication, and implementation by leveraging PEP supplier and volume advantages, identify productivity opportunities for co-man PKG material.

• Partnering with SC and MKT stakeholders and Global COE to deliver YoY productivity from the spend, improve operating free cash flow and provide flexibility to business needs.

• Lead packaging sourcing for projects in all Co-man aligned with business needs, build preferred supplier base, competitive prices, contracts and enable leverage of PepsiCo scale and knowledge.

• Understanding key cost drivers, industry trends and best practices (today and in the future) to shape the sourcing strategies. Develop and maintain long term pricing mechanisms and 3rd party relationship strategies to drive sustainable competitive advantage

• Supporting sustainability agenda for China R&D packaging – recyclable & GHG in packaging category as per global/region target

• Leading supplier performance improvement and contract compliance – providing regular financial, service and quality performance report to key stakeholders and relevant business leaders, and lead PKG supplier management and improvement

• Leading execution of required governance and process changes to ensure GSC compliance to relevant policies.

• Lead packaging sourcing for all exporting projects for GMD projects

• Initiate and execute BCP plans for main packaging category to mitigate supply risk of emergency including COVID/Olympics/ energy control/major events, etc. all kinds of difficult supply situations

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Sourcing, with 5+ years’ experience and expertise in direct sourcing and operations including but not limited in flexible packaging, corrugate, rigid packaging, Paper carton/box, etc. Experiences of over 2 years in packaging sourcing is preferred.

• 8+ years in-depth strategic and operational procurement experience with a solid working knowledge of category management. Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage and/or e-commerce industry preferred

• Good knowledge of both APAC and Greater China packaging supply market in terms of country/international regulations & implementation, supplier landscape and best practices.

• Proven influencing skills to positively impact complex negotiations and manage stakeholders

• Excellent balance of analytical & communication skills

• Good communication skills in English

• Strong understand and engagement on PEP KPIs/target including productivity, inflation control as well as supply optimization

• High level of business acumen

• Strong grasp of general business economics & key cost & quality drivers

• Strong analytical & financial skills

• Political & commercial savvy

• Ability to translate complex situations into simple messages for Exec level communication
