What are we looking for?

• Education: Master Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering / Maths / Economics / Finance, an MBA would be a plus

• Behavioral & soft skills:

  1. Strong risk management skills and discipline;
  2. Excellent communication skills and capacity to represent the bank at high level external meetings, industry events, networking gatherings, etc;
  3. Capacity to identify and leverage on cross-selling opportunities with other business lines;
  4. Availability to travel in line with business requirements (mainly within Europe);
  5. Be mobile.

• Technical skills:

  1. Fluent in English and Italian. French (or another European language) would be a plus;
  2. At least 10 years of Front Office experience in commodities markets, preferably energy;
  3. At least 5 years of management experience, preferably managing international teams;
  4. Profound understanding of commodities markets, incl. market fundamentals, markets infrastructure, industry bodies and representations,
  5. Good understanding of main industry legal frameworks and agreements;
  6. Established industry network (including contacts at main Commodity Exchanges, Clearing Houses, Utilities, Energy Companies, Consumers, etc.) and strong networking skills;
  7. Familiarity with using AI tools.

What will you be doing as a Head of DEC Corporate Sales, Rome platform?

BNP Paribas is a leading global player in execution, clearing and margin financing services and collateral solutions for Corporate clients active on commodity exchanges.

Our Derivatives Execution & Clearing (DEC) platform is part of the bank’s Global Markets division within the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB).

The platform includes Sales teams in different geographical locations: Europe (London, Paris, Rome), the Americas (New York) and Asia (Singapore).

We are looking to hire a professional who will be heading our Sales desk located in Rome.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage a team of DEC Sales covering Corporate clients in different European locations (incl. Southern Europe, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Central and Eastern Europe) with strong focus on commodities markets;

• Responsible for a budget at an individual and at a team level;

• Responsible for expanding existing client relationships, identifying, and onboarding new clients in compliance with the bank’s rules and policies;

• Manage key client relationships at a Senior level;

• Manage own portfolio of Corporate clients;

• Manage and supervise client activities within the required risk and credit frameworks;

• Identify business opportunities on new markets / products;

• Engineer new collateral, financing, market access, and other solutions of interest for clients;

• Manage transversal projects for the business in collaboration with other internal teams and stakeholders;

• Interact and collaborate with Functions (Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Operations, etc.);

• Represent the bank at industry events and industry bodies where required;

• Leverage on AI tools and solutions to facilitate Sales activities, streamline internal processes and improve client experience.

Location: Rome (RM), Italy

Pay scale and Salary: Director. The gross annual salary starts at € 120.000 and will be adjusted according to the candidate’s seniority and to the skills demonstrated during the recruitment process.
