Expert, Senior
The Chief Surveyor will lead and manage all surveying activities for the Projects, ensuring the accurate establishment, control, monitoring, and verification of bridge and infrastructure works throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires extensive experience in major bridge construction, highway infrastructure, grade separations, interchanges, and transportation projects.
Survey Leadership & Management
Lead, manage, and supervise the project survey team across all bridge and infrastructure construction activities.
Develop and implement project survey strategies, methodologies, and procedures.
Allocate survey resources and ensure adequate manpower and equipment are available to meet project requirements.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to survey engineers, surveyors, and survey assistants.
Coordinate survey activities across multiple work fronts to support construction schedules.
Survey Control & Construction Setting Out
Establish, maintain, and verify primary and secondary survey control networks for the project.
Oversee setting out activities for:
Verify geometric accuracy, elevations, coordinates, and construction tolerances.
Ensure all survey activities are carried out in accordance with approved IFC drawings and project specifications.
Bridges & Infrastructure Expertise
Lead survey works associated with complex bridge structures, including:
Monitor structural alignment and geometry throughout bridge construction stages.
Ensure accurate positioning of bridge bearing locations, pier caps, girders, deck segments, and associated infrastructure elements.
Support construction teams in resolving survey-related challenges and alignment issues.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Establish quality control procedures for all survey activities.
Review and approve survey reports, calculations, field data, and as-built documentation.
Ensure compliance with client standards, contractual requirements, and industry best practices.
Participate in audits, inspections, and quality reviews.
Verify contractor and subcontractor survey submissions.
Data Management & Technology
Manage survey data acquisition, processing, storage, and reporting.
Ensure proper utilization of:
Review and validate survey calculations, coordinate systems, and digital models.
Support the implementation of GIS, BIM, and digital engineering requirements where applicable.
Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate closely with:
Attend progress meetings and provide survey updates and technical recommendations.
Support dispute resolution and technical approvals relating to survey matters.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the survey team.
Ensure all survey operations comply with project HSE requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and implement safe working practices in active construction environments.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional Surveying Certification or Registration is preferred.
Additional qualifications in GIS, BIM, or Digital Engineering will be advantageous.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 12-15 years of surveying experience on major civil infrastructure projects.
Minimum 7 years in a senior or lead surveying role.
Extensive experience in:
Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale bridge projects from foundation through superstructure completion.
Previous experience on mega projects within the GCC region, preferably Saudi Arabia.
Experience working with international consultants, government authorities, and major contractors.
Technical Competencies
Advanced knowledge of bridge construction surveying methodologies and geometric control.
