This role is best described as a Senior Full-Stack / Applied AI Engineer with strong ownership.
It is not a pure research role. It combines backend engineering, product building, AI agents, browser automation, systems integration, and customer-facing execution.
This is a hands-on builder role for someone who can ship quickly and own major product areas.
Sphinx is hiring a Member of Technical Staff with 6+ years of experience to join its rapidly growing team.
They are looking for an exceptional software engineer who is also a strong communicator and operates with high ownership and agency.
This hire is critical as the company doubles headcount and scales its AI compliance analysts for banks and fintechs.
You will work closely with founders, customers, and the core engineering team during a major growth stage.
Build browser automation agents for complex integrations across customer systems.
Optimize core product logic for KYB, KYC, AML, and transaction monitoring workflows.
Build end-to-end systems and ship product quickly.
Experiment with the latest AI models and design novel agentic workflows.
Work directly with customers and prospects to understand needs, gather feedback, and improve product quality.
Help shape product direction, engineering culture, and execution standards as the company scales.
6–14 years of professional experience in a technical role.
Strong software engineering fundamentals, excellent communication skills, high ownership, urgency, and ability to operate in a fast-moving startup environment.
Comfort working in-person with a high-performance team.
Experience with AI systems, integrations, backend systems, or automation is highly valuable.
