Spécialiste automatisation - Sécurité des procédés (PSM)

ArcelorMittal Exploitation minière Canada is looking for an Automation Specialist – Process Safety Management (PSM) who will contribute to the design, maintenance, and improvement of critical process safety automation systems. Reporting to the PSM Director, this individual acts as an expert in safety instrumented systems (SIS), critical alarms, interlocks, and control strategies aimed at preventing major consequence events. They define optimal solutions, coordinate their development and implementation, and support teams in analyzing and reducing process-related risks. They collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with PSM standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. They monitor technological advancements in their field, participate in change management (MOC-By-Pass), and lead projects aimed at strengthening the integrity, reliability, and safety of critical automation systems.

Schedule

This position is based in Port-Cartier on a 5-2 work schedule, Monday to Friday, eight (8) hours per day.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement automation systems architecture;

• Analyze inputs and develop optimal solutions for customer needs;

• Support project managers for the selection of instruments & other process control components;

• Prepare lists of automation components required for project execution;

• Collaborate on the development of control concepts and strategies;

• Program human-machine interfaces and industrial controllers;

• Design automation projects;

• Work closely with the engineering and execution teams of strategic projects and their consultants to ensure compliance with company standards and provide them with logistical and technical support;

• Design and maintain control and safety systems: SIS, interlocks, critical alarms;

• Define and validate SIL levels (LOPA, IEC 61511);

• Ensure the proper functioning of automated protections;

• Participate in HAZOP / LOPA (definition of instrumented protections);

• Support MOC (control system modifications);

• Test and validate safety systems (proof of operation);

• Ensure the maintenance of process information (PSI): PFD, P&ID, process data;

• Manage critical alarms (alarm philosophy);

• Support investigations (instrumentation / automation failure);

• All other related tasks.

Requirements

• University degree in engineering or college diploma combined with 5 years of relevant experience;

• Expertise in industrial processes;

• Good knowledge of databases;

• Good knowledge of French and English;

• A health and safety-oriented behavior, leadership, good communication skills, and results-oriented.
