Job Description:
Airbus Defence & Space is looking for a Chief Engineer for Satellite Constellation Telecommunication System (m/f) to join the Space Digital Engineering Service. The position can be based in Elancourt or Toulouse, France.

As part of the IRIS² program, a Chief Engineer position is open at Airbus Defence & Space, for the scope of digital space activities.
The IRIS² program is a major flagship project of the European Union, addressing long-term challenges for EU security, safety, and resilience by providing high-performance 5G connectivity services to governmental users through a sovereign satellite constellation combining the advantages of Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
As Chief Engineer, you will lead innovative and strategic projects, in collaboration with international partners.
Your main mission? To ensure technical excellence and the delivery of high-performance solutions, while guaranteeing the security and resilience of the systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Needs analysis and solution design: Understand customer requirements and various calls for tender, design optimized solutions, and write corresponding technical specifications.
Technology selection: Identify, propose, and validate key technologies to be deployed within Airbus Connected Intelligence activities for the program.
Development option management: Lead various competitive development options and make a rigorous selection to achieve program maturity milestones.
Technical planning and management: Develop the technical work breakdown structure, establish the development schedule, and manage technical risks. Coordinate technical teams to ensure product delivery on time, with the required quality, and within budget.
Monitoring and problem resolution: Continuously monitor progress, quickly resolve technical issues, and manage engineering changes, including evaluating customer requests.
Budget management: Approve necessary budgets for engineering resources and verify their availability.
Qualification and certification: Lead product qualification and certification processes.
Operational support: Support production, integrated logistics, and customer support, while ensuring safe and continuous operations.
Process optimization: Adapt standard product development processes to make them more agile, in agreement with the Technical Director, to meet specific program needs.
Promotion of MBSE approach: Promote the use of the MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) approach in connection with the reference architecture of the MilSpace SatCom ground segment.
Desired Profile:
Education: Engineering degree (or equivalent) with at least 15 years of professional experience.
Technical Skills: Master system engineering practices, within the framework of a “large” telecommunication system (5G - Satcom - NTN) development program.
Soft Skills: Leadership, team spirit, rigor, diplomacy, and excellent communication skills.
Languages: Mandatory negotiation level in English.

Working Environment:
