Laboratory: Oil Sands Laboratory - CNRL Horizon
Type: Full-Time | 12-Hour Shifts | 7 On / 7 Off Rotation
About the Role
Our laboratory is located on a client site situated north of Fort McMurray. As a Laboratory Analyst, you will support daily operatoins by ensuring high-quality analytical results with quick and accurate turnaround times. Your work directly supports the client's ability to monitor and optimize their operational parameters.

Job Overview and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):
Independently operate various instruments including GCs, ICPs, IC, Auto-Titrators, Viscometers, Digital Density Meters, Dean Stark and particle sized analysis for Petroleum Plant Operation
Perform sample preparation
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
Deliver high quality analytical data accurately and on time
Efficiently handle glassware and equipment for extractions, refluxes and preparation
Maintain proper calibration, quality control records and routine maintenance procedures
Execute daily troubleshooting methods of analytical equipment
Ensure adherence to Bureau Veritas’s policies, certifications and accreditations
Actively participate in Bureau Veritas’s Health and Safety Program (meetings, near miss and incident reporting, hazard assessment)
Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have:
Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in related field (i.e. BS, Petroleum/Chemical Technician)
Demonstrated success in position of a Laboratory Analyst is an asset
Sound knowledge of sample handling procedures to ensure continuity and integrity of samples through compliance with laboratory procedures and quality assurance protocols
Knowledge of and experience with laboratory Occupational Health and Safety practices to handle hazardous materials by taking the necessary precautions.
Excellent manual dexterity, record keeping, calculations and problem solving abilities
Flexible to perform varying duties to accommodate changing priorities
Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
Strong computer skills
Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Works both independently and as part of a team
Schedule:
12-hour shifts
7 day on / 7 day off shift rotations, day and night shift
Fort McMurray applicants: Transportation to/from site provided and camp accommodations
Edmonton & Calgary applicants: Qualify for a fly in/fly out schedule and camp accommodations
