The Senior Manager, Software Engineering leads a high impact pillar within the Legal & Privacy engineering organization, responsible for engineering the systems, platforms, and controls that enable the company to operate in compliance with global regulatory requirements and pro-actively managing enterprise risk. This leader is responsible for translating complex regulatory obligations into scalable, resilient, and engineering solutions enabling NBCUniversal.
This role requires both deep technical and senior leadership with business acumen in the compliance and risk space. This leader will own the end-to-end delivery of compliance and risk technical solutions that enable capabilities across jurisdictions, partners directly with Legal, Cyber, and Compliance/Risk Product and Operations. This role will be responsible for hiring, retaining, and continuously assessing the health and growth of the compliance and risk engineering team.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
System Reliability & Performance: Proactively manage reliability and performance of all Compliance and Risks systems to ensure they meet global business needs. Partner closely with SaaS providers and internal teams to maintain system health and performance.
Defect & Enhancement Management: Manage the defect management process from identification to resolution. Manage the delivery of enhancements that improve user experience and system efficiency.
Problem & Incident Management: Own the problem management process, conducting root cause analysis to reduce the number of recurring incidents. Focus on implementing minor enhancements or process changes to prevent future issues. Manage the end-to-end response to major incidents impacting Compliance and Risk business processes. Manage RCA sessions and ensure timely executive – level communications. Reduce “noise” in the system by analyzing ticket trends and automating routine fixes.
Support Standards & SLAs: Enforce global support standards and best practices including adherence to SLAs for all support activities. Monitor and report on performance metrics (e.g. MTTR, backlog aging) and use data to drive continuous improvements.
Data Integration: Manage the support and maintenance of data integrations between Compliance & Risk applications and other enterprise systems, leveraging middleware technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
8+ years of experience in software engineering with 4+ years in engineering management or senior technical leadership
5+ years of experience leading ML and automation solutions
3+ years of experience in deploying AI solutions
Demonstrated experience delivering compliance, regulatory, risk, or governance technology in a large enterprise environment
Working knowledge of major privacy and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA)
Strong track record of leading cross-functional programs with legal, privacy, and compliance stakeholders
Proven ability to influence and communicate at S/VP levels
Experience managing and growing engineering teams (software and quality engineers + managers) in a matrixed Fortune 100 or equivalent environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with data governance platforms or GRC
Familiarity with AI/ML, emerging regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF)
Experience supporting regulatory privacy or security certification
Experience with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow and Jira)
