At Shimano Europe, we’re looking for a Data Engineer who enjoys building data solutions and keeping them running smoothly. In this role, you’ll work on developing and maintaining data pipelines that connect SAP S/4HANA and other systems to our Azure data platform.
This is not just a project-based role, you’ll also be involved in day-to-day operations, supporting the business with data needs, resolving issues, and continuously improving our data landscape.

Design and manage Azure SQL Databases for ETL using various schemas, tables, views, and functions.
Build and orchestrate Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for data movement and scheduling.
Create and optimize SQL queries, transformations, and stored procedures.
Ensure data is accurate, consistent, and ready for use across systems.
REST API Consumption where working with JSON responses is common practice.
Monitor daily data loads and pipelines to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Handle Topdesk tickets (incidents, service requests, and small improvements)
Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.
Help ensure stable and reliable data delivery for the business.
Work on ad hoc data requests from analysts and business teams.
Provide quick access to data, extracts, and insights when needed.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and deliver on their data needs.
Support integration with SAP S/4HANA and validate incoming data.
Help map data into usable models for reporting and applications.
Contribute to the transition from legacy systems to modern solutions.
Review and improve existing (legacy) pipelines and SQL code.
Simplify and streamline processes to reduce complexity and technical debt.
Continuously look for ways to make the platform more efficient and scalable.
Support deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
Experience with Git is a must. Use git for versioning SQL scripts and projects.
Document all technical decisions, dependencies, and open issues for team continuity.
Provide knowledge transfer sessions to team members and stakeholders
4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role in a cloud environment.
Strong proficiency in SQL Server / Azure SQL Database (T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, performance tuning)
Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for pipeline orchestration and scheduling.
Experience building CI/CD pipelines for database and application deployments.
Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA data models or enterprise ERP integration.
Proficiency with .NET (C#) for API development or willingness to learn.
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, data modeling, and data warehouse concepts.
Experience with Git version control and Azure DevOps or equivalent platforms.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to data integrity and quality.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Experience with legacy system improvements or migrations and data modeling techniques.
Understanding of EDIFACT messages like PRICAT (Price Catalogue).
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance standards
Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for data quality monitoring
