What will be your main functions?
We are looking for two people to join us for the execution of an innovation project in the field of energy access in humanitarian contexts.
The project, executed in partnership with an internationally recognized humanitarian NGO, aims to contribute to improving the capacity of humanitarian organizations to meet electricity needs in emergency contexts using renewable energy sources. A tool will be developed that allows humanitarian actors to dimension their energy demand and identify sustainable solutions to meet it, which will be validated in an intervention in the Philippines.
The Energy Technicians in humanitarian projects will join the project team to support in the identification of pre-existing solutions and applicable regulations and then carry it out and, specifically, perform the following functions:
Investigate solutions developed in other sectors and/or regions that allow the characterization of demand and simulation of generation alternatives
Study of methods and tools for dimensioning electricity generation sources and simulating operating scenarios
Study of the energy demand of humanitarian actors in emergency contexts.
Study of applicable regulations for energy access solutions in humanitarian aid emergencies
Evaluation of different electrification and heating/cooking technologies. Search for existing off-grid electricity access solution providers. Analysis of the suitability of different solutions and evaluation based on corresponding regulations and certifications.
Bibliographical review on energy access in vulnerable and humanitarian contexts and identification of best practices, trends, and key impact factors.
Preparation of manuals, best practices, guides, recommendations, and procedures.
Support in project management and monitoring, according to the requirements established by acciona.org and by external funding sources.
