The Senior Accountant will serve as key member of the Controllership organization within the Media Group. The Media Group includes the best brands in the industry, including the NBC broadcast network, Peacock, and Bravo. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the entertainment television and streaming businesses and be a change agent. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting, and will work closely with the Media Group finance team and collaborate with Controllership across the NBCUniversal portfolio.
This role will support standardizing existing processes, identifying business process efficiencies, implementing best practices and more. This position will need to work as a member of a cohesive team that can successfully strive to meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to changes in the business environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist with month-end and quarter-end accounting close to ensure deadlines are met and all items are recorded in accordance with GAAP
Prepare monthly journal entries timely and accurately
Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in account reconciliation tool, ensuring adherence to company-policy
Support the Media Group finance team in all planning processes, including long-range planning, annual budgets and operational reviews
Support business process by partnering with other departments, including but not limited to FP&A, accounts payable, treasury, tax, and legal
Support ad hoc data requests, deliverables and other controllership deadlines
Continually improve business processes through automation, thoughtful analysis and researching or benchmarking best practices inside and outside of the company
Assist with monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet variance analysis
Assist process owners in documentation of SOX controls
Participate in corporate driven initiatives and process change. In the next year, this will include significant emphasis on NBCU’s transition to the SAP S/4 platform
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting
2+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred
CPA license or on track
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Foundational knowledge of GAAP and internal control over financial reporting
Proven ability to work independently, execute well, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Detail oriented and a quick learner
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Ability to think critically and research ad hoc accounting issues
Problem solving and analytical skills; ability to dig into problems and drive resolutions
Solid work ethic, positive attitude and a team-player
This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
