R2A Labs is a young deep-tech start-up dedicated to accelerating the development of circular materials. We recently closed our first fundraise and are backed by a lead angel fund in the UK as well as Bocconi University in Italy. Converting complex bio-feedstocks into advanced materials remains a fundamental challenge. Industrial R&D in this space is still heavily dependent on time-intensive physical experimentation, with a lack of robust digital tools to accelerate discovery and enable the development of high-performing bio-based materials at costs competitive with synthetic incumbents. Our proprietary Lab-in-Loop Engine addresses this by tightly integrating digital exploration with physical validation. We use active learning frameworks to continuously feed experimental results back into the model, creating a closed-loop workflow that connects molecular design, process conditions, and material performance into a single pipeline. The founding R2A team combines top technical expertise (PhD Chemistry from Cambridge University, and Marie Curie Fellow at Politecnico di Milano) with commercial excellence (successful repeat entrepreneur).
