**ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/OBSTRETICS FLOAT POOL DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON
MEDICAL CENTER:**

Registered Nurses in the Obstetrics’ Float Pool float between Labor and
Delivery (LDR Unit), Post Partum and the Newborn Nursery. As a Magnet
recognized organization, our float pool nurses use their wide breadth of
obstetric nursing knowledge to easily float between units and provide the
highest quality of care.

**POSITION SUMMARY:**  

As an RN in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department, you will play an
integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care
model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be
able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**

* Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients

* Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families

* Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues

* Update and manage patient records 

* Enter and interpret computerized data/information

* Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization

* Assist the leadership team as needed in  quality improvement projects

**JOB REQUIREMENTS** :  

* Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

* 1+ years of RN experience preferred

* Certification in basic life support (BLS)

* Advanced Cardiac Life support **(** ACLS) certification required in certain units

* Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

* Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas

* Effective verbal and written communication skills

* Physical ability to meet job responsibilities

* Basic computer proficiency

* Fluency in another language a plus
