The Quality Engineer will provide technical quality support across the organization to ensure high standards for materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Drive product and process improvements through data-driven problem solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and standardization. Maintain and enhance the local Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with corporate quality standards and compliance requirements. Consistently apply OPEN+ tools and methodologies to support operational excellence.
Your ‘day to day’
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with PMI, environmental, health, safety, sustainability, and regulatory requirements.
Promote a proactive safety culture using OPEN+ and IOS principles.
Change Management
Lead and coordinate change management activities to maintain the validated state of manufacturing processes, systems, and methods.
Conduct risk assessments and track key performance metrics.
Material Quality Management
Develop and maintain material control strategies, including acceptance criteria, sampling plans, and analysis methods.
Investigate material-related nonconformities, determine disposition of nonconforming materials, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Support material qualifications, trials, and supplier quality improvement initiatives.
Quality Management System (QMS) & Audits
Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) and supporting procedures.
Coordinate quality training and ensure compliance with internal, external, and regulatory requirements.
Support internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and documented.
Product & Process Quality
Provide technical quality support to improve materials, products, and manufacturing processes.
Assess quality risks, resolve quality issues, and implement solutions that protect quality and production performance.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support capability development across the organization.
Nonconformities & CAPA
Investigate deviations and nonconformities using structured problem-solving methodologies.
Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), ensuring timely implementation, documentation, and effectiveness.
Customer & Consumer Complaints
Manage systems for identifying, investigating, trending, and resolving quality complaints.
Support product-related special situations, including recalls, when required.
Prepare and maintain quality reports and performance metrics.
Validation & Computerized Systems
Lead validation activities, ensuring execution, documentation, issue resolution, and timely closure.
Support validation and testing of computerized systems, including specification review, test planning, execution, and issue management.
Training & Continuous Improvement
Act as a subject matter expert for quality processes, QMS requirements, and product quality.
Deliver training and support development of Quality Champions and Equipment Owners.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive compliance, standardization, and continuous improvement.
OPEN+ Pillar Responsibilities
Participate as an assigned OPEN+ Pillar member.
Support pillar strategy, reviews, standard work implementation, and capability development initiatives.
Who we’re looking for:
Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
3-5 years of Quality Assurance experience in the tobacco, food, pharmaceutical, or a similar regulated manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of quality systems, ISO standards, root cause analysis, statistical methods, and continuous improvement tools.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Annual Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000
