Senior
Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.
To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.
As an IT Software Engineer Manager you will be a core developer on INFOex, BCG's custom-built case team data management platform and one of the most business-critical applications in the Digital Collaboration portfolio. INFOex combines a bespoke full stack application estate with native Microsoft 365 capability to ensure that case team folders and data adhere to our strict internal and external regulatory requirements, guaranteeing to our clients that we manage their information safely and responsibly throughout the case team lifecycle. You will build and maintain that platform: designing and developing features from inception to production, and keeping them dependable for the case teams and office staff who use them every day.
The work is genuinely full stack. On any given sprint you may be extending the .NET services and APIs behind INFOex, working in the React frontends, modelling data in Azure SQL and Dataverse, building or refactoring a Power App and the Power Automate flows around it, or wiring provisioning and lifecycle logic against the Microsoft Graph API for SharePoint and Teams. INFOex sits alongside BCG's information protection tooling, so you will also work with Microsoft Purview capabilities such as sensitivity labelling, retention and data lifecycle policies, so that what the platform provisions stays compliant by design rather than by manual intervention.
This is a hands-on development role. You will spend the majority of your time writing clean, modular, reusable and thoroughly tested code, and reviewing the code of others. You will work closely with the Product Owner to turn an evolving risk and compliance agenda into well-scoped stories and workable solutions, contribute to technical design discussions alongside the squad's senior engineers and the portfolio architects, and take features through to release yourself. You are expected to propose solutions proactively rather than wait for a specification.
You will share in the day-to-day running of the platform. That covers the CI/CD pipelines and quality gates our releases pass through, correct handling of secrets and access, the vulnerability findings and access reviews assigned to the squad, and the support escalations that reach us from users or vendors. Because the data INFOex handles is client confidential, engineering rigour and a security-first instinct matter here more than raw delivery speed. Over time you will also mentor junior and vendor engineers and take a growing role in guiding technical decisions within the squad.
At least 8 years of full stack software engineering experience, including work on an enterprise product with a live user base
At least 4 years of hands-on engineering within Microsoft Power Platform — Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse — including its CI/CD and Azure DevOps approach; experience with custom plugins is an advantage
Languages and frameworks: C# / .NET and Python, and confidence in a modern JavaScript or TypeScript frontend codebase such as React
Solid Azure engineering across App Services, Storage, Key Vault and Azure SQL, and the identity fundamentals that bind them together
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Graph API, particularly SharePoint Online and Teams provisioning, permissioning and lifecycle management
Exposure to Microsoft Purview or comparable information protection tooling — sensitivity labels, retention policies and data lifecycle — is a strong advantage
Experience delivering compliance-driven or data protection products in a regulated or client-confidential setting is preferred
Experience in agile processes, particularly Scrum methodology, and the ability to understand requirements and proactively propose software solutions
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science engineering or technology preferred
Microsoft PL-900 is a must; AZ-900 and SC-900 are preferred
Excellent written and spoken English, and the flexibility to collaborate with colleagues across European, American and Asian time zones
You will sit in the INFOex squad and report into the Software Engineering Chapter within the Digital Collaboration portfolio. Day to day you will work with the Product Owner, the squad's engineers and QA, and the vendor partners who support the platform. Beyond the squad you will work with our Collab Security and Sustaining Engineering teams to keep the platform protected and serviceable, with the portfolio and enterprise architects on technical design, and with our Infrastructure and IT Service organisations on changes that cross into their estate.
You will also collaborate with the wider Risk Product Portfolio, with Legal, Risk and Information Security colleagues who set the requirements INFOex has to satisfy, and with the case teams and office staff who rely on the platform every day and who are the ultimate judge of whether what we build works.
You're Good At
Building full stack applications end to end — backend services and APIs, a modern web frontend, and the data model underneath — and keeping the code clean, modular, testable and maintainable
Developing solutions within Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse, including custom plugins and the application lifecycle management around them
Implementing role-based security and least-privilege access patterns for sensitive client data
Integrating with Microsoft 365 through the Graph API — SharePoint site and library provisioning, Teams lifecycle, permissions and archival
Working with information protection and compliance capability, including Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels, retention and data lifecycle management
Working confidently with CI/CD: GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps pipelines, static analysis and code quality gates, secrets handling through Azure Key Vault, and promotion across development, QA, pre-production and production
Supporting a live platform — investigating incidents, fixing defects at the root cause, and closing vulnerability and access-review findings promptly
Collaborating to gather and understand requirements, and contributing to the technical design of the product
Scoping development effort on user stories and giving reliable estimates in an agile environment
Analysing and resolving technical and product problems, and optimising what you build
Communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders across BCG's global offices, in writing and in person
At BCG, our people and relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that in-person collaboration plays an important role in our culture, mentorship, and professional development.
For this role, you will generally be expected to work from a BCG office or in person with clients on a regular basis (typically around 50% of working time), depending on business needs and in line with local policies and practices.
We aim to provide a dynamic and collaborative environment that fosters connection and teamwork
